Chairman’s report. Chairman Mr. Rob Withington wished all the players on behalf of the Telford Snooker League a Happy new year, and hoped everyone would continue to enjoy the season. Rob also wished the three Telford teams the best of luck in the next round of the Inter-town competition. Rob also said he was pleased with the fact that Josh Devey was starting a page for the league on Facebook. Although Josh was on holiday at the moment, the committee thought it was a good idea and may encourage new players to enter our league. It could also be a constant reminder for competitions etc.
Treasurer’s report. Andy reported that seven teams still owe outstanding cue fees, but was confident that they would be settled before the week-end.
Secretaries report None.
Competition Secretaries report.
comps all going well, all will be at Semi Final stage by end of Feb.
Hoping to hold semi-finals of both U25 and O55 during Feb however
- still hoping to get some refs qualified in time for the bulk of the
semi-finals & finals. Otherwise Noel, John, Rob etc. to help Frank
- inter town last 16 on Friday 20th Jan. Having 3
teams still in the comp at this stage is outstanding and wish all the best of
luck. Telford A host Oldbury at Shifnal, Telford B travel to Sedgeley A and
Telford C travel to take on Bearwood
- I'm planning an end of season inter town challenge with the 3 Telford teams
and a team from Bridgnorth. The main purpose is to give more experience to the
players especially the younger ones, as well as settle some pride between the
teams too! We will use it as a trial also towards next years selection for the
squads
- it's pleasing to see we are getting much more
coverage in the Shropshire Star / Telford Journal. They seem to be using the
reports etc. that I put onto our website so keep the info coming and I'll keep
putting it on
- as soon as I get the match notes from the respective captains I will put a
report on the website for all of the inter town matches involving our sides
Post. None.
Future planning. The meeting also agreed that the presentation should be held at The Bayley Club this year, and the date
would be Friday, May 19th, subject to confirmation.
The meeting also agreed that the league should donate £25-00 to subsidise the teams drawn away in the Inter-town competition to help with their expenses.
A.O. B. None.
