Second in Div 2 Bayley E hosted top of Div 1 Shifnal A defending a 150 point handicap advantage. The first two frames went the way of the visitors but both went to the black, Darren Weston beating Andy O'Brien 69-60 before Zenon Lembicz got past Darren Rowley 53-44, the Bayley lead now 132. The home side hit back taking the next 2, Dave Beyer winning 59-37 against Steve Powell and Ali Jones being the first to beat Craig Reynolds this season 71-39. Going into the last Bayley were 186 up and although Paul Lloyd beat Dave France 70-31, its Bayley who progress by 147.

At Maddocks the F side took on Allscott Heath and put in a spirited performance, winning all 5 frames but with all being close it was not to be enough to overturn the 163 point deficit. Neil Pearson had a 30 break in beating Jason Allen 71-53, Jason had a nice 33 himself. James O'Hara beat Terry Brentnall 48-38 on the black. Another black ball finish saw Mick Pearson beat Kev Waland 42-36 and reduce the arrears to 129. Kirk stevenson won 52-28 against Dave Finney before Maj Ilyas beat Carl Starling 71-44 to send Allscott through by 78.

Bayley Lads travelled to take on Eden A with a 150 point lead. Gurd Singh set about reducing that by getting past Spencer Rowley 73-26, Bayley now 103 to the good. Next up was lewis Round who played solidly to defeat Ron Broad 74-7 and reduce the arrears to just 36. The Bayley's Gavin Smallwood played well in beating home skipper Dan Morris 57-40 to increase the advantage to 53 with 2 to play. In the penultimate frame Sean Cross beat Ross Bowater 63-35 to leave his brother Lee to chase 25 in the last. That he surely did as he beat Josh Devey 113-8 to make Eden the victors by 70.

In the final tie of the round Dawley C hosted Maddocks 2nd club with a slender 27 start. Mark Jones had a nice 36 break which helped him to a fine 96-23 win over Dave Ferriday and put Dawley 100 in front. Terry Askew beat Eddie Ye on the black to reduce the deficit to 88 before home skipper Luke Beckett edged Rich Parker by a single point 37-36 to leave 2nd Club trailing by 89 with 2 to play. Nick Holmes beat Gareth Jones 63-25 to leave Dawley in front by 51 going into the last. However a 22 break helped Lloyd Giles who played well to defeat Tom Roden 79-15 to send 2nd Club through by 13.

Dawley A; Maddocks A; Shifnal B & Bayley Cue all had byes.


Shifnal G played host to Bayley B and began with a 62 point advantage. Bayley's Chris Smith edged past Graham Copson 62-43 to reduce the arrears to 43. Kev West played well to beat Roy Leneveu to further reduce it to just a solitary point. Visiting skipper Kelvin McLeod beat debutant Marcus Hubble 64-38 to put his side in front for the first time by 25. Garry Owen continued the visitors fine showing with a 76-21 win over veteran Jessie Lowe before Craig Baugh completed the win by beating Alan McDonald 63-25, Bayley winning by 118.

Anstice B travelled to Wellington to take on Bayley Z, chasing a 100 point handicap. Skipper Stew Wimbush started well beating James Steele 72-30 to reduce it to 58. Noel Stones continued where he had left off, winning 93-24 against Paul Rhodes. Trailling now for the first time, Rich Benting dug in and he beat Steve Smallwood 75-53 to restore Bayley's advantage to 11. Home skipper Tony Morgan couldn't quite hold off Nigel Walcroft, losing 33-53 to leave Anstice ahead by 9 going into the last. In a tense final frame it was visiting Frank Williams who got the better of Steve Dawes 69-46 and send Anstice through by 32.

In the final match of the round Bayley D hosted Shifnal D chasing a 62 point deficit. Unfortunately the match card was lost but visiting captain Karl Wilson beat Ryan Dudley by 11, Dean Harris beat home skipper Ben Godding by 13 and Mark Hebden beat Dave Dudley by just 2 to leave Bayley 88 behind with 2 frames left. Ade Smith drew with Mokesh Mehmi before Brian McMillan beat Chris Morgan-Adams by 22 to give Shifnal the win by 110.

Maddocks E; Hadley B; Maddocks C; Eden Elite & Dawley B all had byes
