Dawley A v Maddocks E
A cracking match with a couple of tight frames that could have gone either way. Ade Henry was 29 up with just the colours left but Steve Downs got the snooker required and took all the balls to win. Similarly Mick Reynolds was 30 in front but snookered on the yellow which was over the green pocket. With the cue ball on the top cush he had to play up and down the table twice off baulk and top cushions between the blue and pink balls before hitting the yellow. He then went on to take the frame where if he had missed, then Andy Jones would surely have cleared.
Result: Dawley 4, Maddocks 1

INTER TOWN MATCH PROVES A REAL NAIL BITER On Friday night Telford C entertained a strong and experienced Dudley outfit in the Inter Town competition at Shifnal. The drama started in the afternoon when Tom Mulholland was forced to pull out due to work commitments and skipper Noel Hitch had to re-shuffle the Telford line up with Lee Cross stepping in with just a few hours to spare. On table 2 Lee began confidently with a couple of nice pots before Rob Thompson (who hits every ball so hard it brings all 6 pockets in to play) settled and a 31 break helped him to put the visitors ahead, winning 70-16. On table 1 however it was a different story with Aaron Sparkes dominating the early stages, racing into a 54 point advantage. At this level of competition though nothing can be taken for granted and Phil Thompson... Read More

GREAT NIGHT OF POTTING, DRAMA AND SPORTSMANSHIP AT DIVISIONAL INDIVIDUALS
In Division One defending champion Michael Mancini was in no mood to give up his title easily. In the Last 16 a 33 break helped him to beat Keith Price 60-4, and the 4 was from a foul! In the quarter final another 23 break saw him past Ben Godding 67-5 to see him into a semi final meeting with Aaron Sparkes, who was also potting well in beating Dave France 51-3 in his quarter final. The semi final was a much closer affair, going to the final black. Aaron attempted a double to the centre pocket, catching the knuckle and sending the black towards the green pocket. Michael jawed the black and it fell about 6 inches shy of the yellow pocket, leaving Aaron to sink it to end Michael's reign and clinch his deserved place in this year's final.... Read More
