Division
Two.
After the mid season break it
was nice to swap Christmas tablecloths for the green baize
once more and at the Bayley it was the Cue teams turn to host
title contenders the D team. In the opening frame it was the
ever improving Ben Godding who began the stronger and he
opened up an early 20+ advantage. Rob Cook for the Cue team
couldn\'t quite find the impressive form he had enjoyed just
before Christmas and Ben ran out a 67-18 winner. The second
frame saw some nice safety exchanges and it was Steve
Weatherall who had the first chance for the home side. However
when on 9, after a lovely cut into the corner, the cue ball
travelled off 2 rails before cruelly finding the centre
pocket. This gave Chris Morgan-Adams the opportunity he was
after and a brisk 21 break gave him the advantage which he saw
through to the end winning 62-26 to put the D side just one
frame from yet another victory. It was a battle of the
skippers in the third frame and again after an early safety
exchange it was Noel Hitch who got in first. Breaks of 24
& 20 helped him to open up a 45 point lead and after that
Dave Dudley never really had much run to be fair and Noel was
able to see it out winning 85-11 to halve the deficit. The
penultimate frame saw some good potting from both players but
in the end it was the home sides Danny Weaver that held his
nerve to level the match beating Jim Lewis 58-30. The final
frame saw the D teams Ade Smith begin the better but Spencer
Clarke has been the dark horse all season and never seems
fazed. Some great pots and assured safety saw him through to
seal a remarkable comeback win for the Cue team as he won
52-37. Another good night with great banter, good luck for the
rest of the season chaps.
