Division
one.
Always going to be a tight
match as the top 2 teams came up against each other in the
last match before the Xmas break. Played in great spirit from
both teams, a great match ensued. Frame 1. Keith Price v Tom
Mulholland. The young Shifnal potter started well and with the
aid of a 31 break got himself into a good lead. Keith came
back well tho\' with a 28 break in reply. Nip and tuck after
that but Keith finished the stronger after Tom missed a chance
he would normally take. Keith finished the frame off to put
Dawley 1-0 up, frame score 68-44. Frame 2. Ade Henry stepped
up as the Sacrificial lamb against Matt Davies. Cagey start to
this frame but Matt got into his stride, and with the aid of a
56 break ran out comfortable winner 73-10. Frame 3. With
Shifnal not having their usual line up it was Chris Jones
making his first appearance this season against his namesake
Mark. Tight frame with both players not really reaching usual
standards. It came down to the last four colours with Chris
holding a slender 7 point advantage. Chris left Mark a long
brown towards yellow pocket which took an eternity to drop
into the pocket after clinging to the jaws. Mark then potted
blue and pink to take the frame 58-50. Frame 4. Sean Nolan v
Lynsay Knox. Another close frame this which saw Sean holding a
4 point lead with just the colours remaining. Lynsay had first
chance, he potted a good yellow to get position on the green,
however, after potting green he saw the cue ball follow it
into the pocket. Bit of pressure on Sean has he lined the
green up into middle but he held his nerve well and potted
green to pink to take the frame and clinch the match for
Dawley with a frame score of 59-39. Frame 5. Mick Reynolds v
John Fallows. Mick held the advantage in the final frame and
at one point it looked like a 4-1 result may have been on the
cards for the Dawley boys. John is never beaten tho\' until
the proverbial lady sings and with some solid snooker got
himself well back into the frame. With Dawley\'s nemesis (THE
MISS RULE !!)also playing a part John took advantage and with
more fine play he took the points he needed to take the frame
54 points to 40. Match score Dawley \'A\' 3, Shifnal \'B\' 2.
