Division
one.
Hadley A travelled to shifnal E
this week, two teams that are riding high in the first
division.
The first frame of the evening
saw shaun lane take on away skipper john rawlins, john
started off in fine form with a run of 22, followed by a mid
teen break, then running away to safety well. Shaun tried to
get back in the frame, but nothing seemed to go right for
him, he unfortunately went for a pot , only to see it catch
the jaws and stay out. This left john with a long red, which
he duly sunk, and from that went on to knock in a wonderful
controlled break of 35. Shaun was left with 2 reds on the
table, looked at the scoreboard and decided enough was
enough, shaking johns hand , with a rare 75 - 2 defeat.
Frame 2 saw chris griffiths take
on steve clayton, some great potting and safety from both
players made sure that this was going to be a super frame of
snooker, steve opened up a considerable lead, and with just
the colours left on the table, he required just one ball to
leave a snookers required situation. But it all turned sour,
as he fouled and left chris a chance to get back in the
match, which he did in some style, taking the colours to win
by a single point, 62 - 61.
Lee cross took on stevie
minshall in the 3rd. Steve never got a look in, as lee went
straight into potting mode knocking in a superb 37 break,
he then put steve in a tricky position leaving him
nothing, with a few more reds and colours potted , poor old
steve threw in the towel 72 - 0 down. Well done lee, a great
performance !!
Next up was shaun cross against
stalwart andy " kenny " kendrick, who was looking
for his first win of the season. This was a nip and tuck
frame which could have gone either way, but kenny managed to
find his form of old, and went on to take the frame 57 - 27.
At the match standing all
square, there was a valuable point awaiting the winner.
Chris gifford, playing with a new tip, took on mr
consistant darren weston.nothing seemed to go right for
chris as he wobbled balls in the pocket, clipped balls as he
tried to run safe, even through in the odd " in off
" this gave darren the opportunity he needed to open up
a lead, he certainly did that with a lovely run of 27 along
the way, he then went on to take the frame and the match for
hadley 77 - 27.
Final score, shifnal E 2....
hadley A 3, Thanks to the shifnal boys
for a great evening.
Division
two.
Fresh from last week\'s surprise
away win at Shifnal it was mixed feelings as this years top
performer Spencer Clarke was unavailable due to work
commitments but on the plus side it was great to welcome
back Chris Durham for his first outing this term. This week
at the Bayley the Cue team entertained the Bayley Lads who,
as well as bringing a fine blend of youth and experience,
bring a wealth of enthusiasm which is fantastic to see. In
the opening encounter there wasn\'t too much between the
players until Danny began potting well and leaving very
little for Pete, taking the frame 61-30 for the \'home\'
side. The next frame was also a very tight affair to begin
with with some good safety exchanged, but in the end it was
the Cue teams Rob that took it 56-28 against Ron. Stepping
in at short notice for Spencer was Steve and despite some
good potting from Mike, a 22 clearance helped seal a 3-0
lead running out a 68-30 winner. Chris had to wipe the dust
off his cue and find some chalk for his first frame for 6
months when he faced the Lads captain Josh. Indeed it proved
somewhat of a rusty start for Chris as Josh shot ahead,
however Chris dug in and hit back to level the scores. With
just the last 4 colours to go it looked like he was going to
complete a fine recovery but Josh had other ideas, showing
great composure to lay a snooker and then hold his nerve to
pot the deciding pink to register a deserved 52-37 win. In
the final frame of the night it was Noel that got in first
with a 25 break to open up a lead. To his credit Ross never
gave up despite not getting much run at all and in the end
the Cue teams captain edged it 62-12. There is no doubt
about it the Lads are improving week on week and I\'m sure
it won\'t be long before they register their first victory.
Well played and good luck for the rest of the season
