Shifnal
B v Shifnal A
Good
match amongst two shifnal rivals. Mark Jones did very well
against Matt Davies, including a lovely 24 break, but
ultimately Matt ran away to take the first frame. Aaron
Sparkes cued very well, including a nice break of 39 to run
out a comfortable winner against Mark Worsdell. frame 3 turned
out to be the best of the night, with Kev Hawkins forging an
early 40 point lead, only for Simon Biddulph to come back and
take a 15 point lead with only pink & black remaining.
However Kev duly got the snooker and a lovely pink to black
allowed him to take the frame. Frame four saw Angus take on
Steady Eddie Mullard, and Eddie looked the more likely winner
early on with good safety helping him take an early 20 lead,
but Angus dug deep and a telling 27 break late in the frame
lead to a hard fought win. Frame five saw Shifnal B\'s anchor
man John Fallows play Andy Carson, and with regular scoring
John was able to pull away for a comfortable victory. Shifnal
A can certainly take heart from there 1st match in division 1

Bayley
Cue v Shifnal F
After
the first match of the season the Bayley lads were asking if
the league table was upside down after spending most of last
season at the other end, but welcomed fellow \'early season
pacesetters\' Shifnal F to Wellington with both sides looking
to build on their excellent starts. The first frame set the
scene for what proved to be a fiercely contested and close
match throughout. The lead swung several times before Chris
looked to have taken the upper hand, but Spencer rolled back
the years clearing the last four colours including an
incredible black, to clinch the opening frame. In stark
contrast to the first frame Steve potted absolutely everything
including a nice 29 along the way to leave Chris wondering
what he\'d done wrong and drew the Bayley lads level. The
third frame was a tight frame with lots of safety throughout.
Noel opened up a 44 point lead with just one red remaining,
leaving Willie requiring 3 snookers, but the Shifnal man dug
in and turned the frame around with some superb play. However
he left a chance and Noel managed to clear to edge the home
side in front. The fourth frame was possibly the tightest of
all with Gareth edging ahead then Spencer before the Shifnal
man clinched victory on the black. In the final frame it was
Lee that did the early running opening up a useful lead, but
Rob dug in with some good potting including a fine 29 break to
go in front. In the end Lee couldn\'t get the snooker required
and Rob clinched the win for Shifnal. Congratulations to
Shifnal for taking the plaudits on the night, it was a good
match played in a great spirit as always and really could have
been any score on another night

Bayley
Z v Allscott
It
looks like Bayley Z\'s title hopes are over for yet another
season after this drubbing at the hands of Allscott ! Tugboat
tried a unique style of snooker by consistently \'hiding\' the
white ball from his opponent , however it only resulted in a
56-30 defeat at the hands of Chris Bates . Paul Rhodes ,
however , tried a different approach which somehow reaped its
rewards with a fine 49-31 win over Dave Finney . Captain Iain
Atkinson , playing in an unfamiliar position (sober) , then
took on\' someone\' from the opposition and got beat 53-36 .
Al Francis then took on \'somebody \' else and he also lost,
in a closely contested match ,45-40. Tony Morgan , also
playing in an unfamiliar position (p.a.a.f) took on Carl
Starling , however the master plan didn\'t work as he got beat
50-22 . Here\'s hoping for a good cup run !
