Shifnal F vs Dawley B

Finally the eagerly awaited start to the season has arrived and Shifnal F welcomed the recently promoted Dawley B The match started with the evergreen Wally Harper quickly going into a confident 20+ point lead before Gareth Lloyd got his long potting game going and eventually controlling the match and putting Shifnal F into a 1-0 lead. Excellent first frame which could have gone either way. The second frame was not such a close affair with Chris Petford easily taking care of Roy Adams in a one sided contest to put Shifnal F 2-0 ahead Frame 3 saw Andy Garbett potting well to pull one back for Dawley against an out of sorts Spencer Rowley to give the Dawley lads hope in taking something from the match. The home captain Willie Brown soon put that hope to bed by wiining a close contest against opposing captain Barry Roden to give Shifnal F a 3-1 lead. The final frame was another close affair with Rob Wright edging out Liam Goodman to give Shifnal a 4-1 victory A good sstart to the season for Shifnal F and best wishes to Dawley B for a successful season
