Hadley
A played Anstice A this week with Hadley trying to ratain
their first didvision status. Pretty difficult with only four
players? The first match saw Steve Clayton play Ian Duffy, and
but for a few missed chances Steve could have won this one,
but the ever steady Ian claimed the first frame. Mick Hughes
had an inspired game against Neil Price with Neil only having
bad luck throughout the frame. Having said that, take nothing
away from Micks frame, he played really well with some great
potting. It seems to becoming a habit for Kieth Price and Alan
Turner, but this frame went only one way with Keith potting
superbly and putting together a 48 break on the way. Last up
was Andy Kendrick v Darren Weston. Darren potted well, and
Andy couldn't get going. Next week Shifnal should decide our
fate!
Second
Division.
As
the season draws to a close (far too soon surely? Lol) Bayley
Cue entertained an in form Shifnal A who finally look destined
to joining the top flight next year. Bayley\'s Steve
Weatherall unluckily went in off early on before Shifnal\'s
Eddie Mullard stole the show compiling a superb 70 break which
drew deserved applause from all 3 tables and surely puts him
in the box seat for the highest break prize. The next 2 frames
were both won, or lost, on the black as firstly Chris Durham
calmly slotted his black to level the match. In the battle of
the skippers the home sides Noel Hitch was left with the
dilemma play safe or risky double?? He decided on the safety
option putting the black on the top cush ...unfortunately the
white dropped into the middle pocket!! The 4th frame went to
Andy Carson who\'s 24 break near the death sealed the win for
Shifnal. Nick Carson also took the final frame to give the
visitors a 4-1 win but in another enjoyable night of snooker
played in great spirit it was certainly Eddie taking the
plaudits.
