Division
One.A good night of snooker with breaks coming in from all
over the place. Sean Nolan got Dawley off to a flying start
with a brilliant 98 break in frame 1. It would have been more
but for a cruel kick when potting the black to get position on
the final red. It meant Sean had a very difficult last red
which he valiantly tried to cut from a very tight angle. He
did well to get close to the pocket, never mind pot it. Great
break ending two points short of a century. Dawley 1, Maddocks
0. Frame 2 was a close affair between Carl Walker & Shaun
Harris. Shaun cleared the colours well from yellow to pink to
take the frame for Madddocks with a frame score 49-34. Frame 3
Pete Nolan v Leigh France. Leigh knocked in a nice 35 break
early doors to get himself into a good lead. However Dawley\'s
flying Scotsman got his snooker head on & with some god
potting got himself back into the frame. With Pete requiring
one snooker with the last three colours remaining Leigh
managed to pot blue & then see the cue ball drop in the
middle bag. This gave Pete his chance but he unfortunately
couldn\'t take it. Leigh took the balls he needed to put
Maddocks 2-1 up with a frame score 60-48. Frame 4 saw Mark
Jones play Ian Skelton. A scrappy frame early on with no real
openings for both players. With the frame score close Mark
knocked in a decent 38 break which left Ian in the snookers
required position. With Ian being the gent that he is, he
shook hands & off to the bar they went !! Final &
deciding frame saw Billy Fletcher come straight from work to
play Mick Reynolds. Nothing in this frame until Mick got his
potting boots on and knocked in a great 50 break which
guaranteed him the frame & Maddocks the match with a frame
score 60 points to 9. Match score : Dawley \'A\' 2, Maddocks

teams present in Shifnal War Memorial Club observed a
minute\'s silence to respect Arthur Aston who sadly passed
away last week. Thanks for the memories Arthur The match
started brightly for John Briscoe with some nice potting
before Colin Farge came to life and cleared from the green to
take the first frame. Second frame was a long drawn out affair
with neither player taking control. Craig Davies potted a good
brown and blue before missing the pink to give Chris Petford a
chance and he duly potted the pink by double kissing the white
to take the frame. Chris Painter edged out Wayne Weeks in a
game of few chances. Frame 4 and Rob Wright managed to see off
Steve Speeke by potting the final pink to seal the victory.
Final frame, Willie Brown started well before Les Stirling hit
back but then some good safety play and snookers allowed
Willie to pull away and take the frame. Some close frames and
on another night the final score could have been the other way
for Newport
