TELFORD SNOOKER LEAGUE

Match Report - 2013/14

Division One.

Hadley A were at home to the Anstice C team this week, and in the first frame Andy Kendrick recovered his old form when he defeated Chris Gifford quite comfortably. However, that's as far as Hadley got, with this team showing a master class in potting against us. Steve Clayton wasn't really at the races, and lost to Lee Cross by quite a margin. That was followed by Mick Hughes playing Sean Cross, who also potted Mick off the table. With Hadley only fielding four players, Alan Turner played Chris Griffiths, and Chris didn't start potting that well, but as soon as he dropped into gear, that was another comfortable victory for Anstice who played really well.

Division Two.

Bayley welcomed Shifnal F as the league programme resumed fresh from last weeks nail biting 1 point semi final victory. Steve Weatherall started well opening up a lead before Spencer Rowley looked like clearing from the last 2 reds. Unfortunately he over ran position on the final pink leaving a very fine cut which jawed. Steve then knocked it in before taking on, and getting, a tremendous black into the corner pocket at least 10 feet up the rail to put Bayley 1 up. In the next Rob Cook played the best frame this year showing great restraint to defeat Chris Painter 61 - 29 and extend the lead. Chris Petford started well against Spencer Clarke but Spencer fought back well including a nice 28 break before Chris finally clinched it to halve the deficit. Lee Newton continued his fine form to take the fourth frame despite some excellent safety play from Willie Brown, especially when needing snookers. In the final frame neither player could really get going and the lead swung back and forth. Shifnals Rob Wright looked to have clinched it with a super long pot on the final blue but rattled the frame ball pink with the rest, allowing a very embarassed Noel Hitch to use his get out of jail free card to take the frame by a point. Final score 4 - 1 to the Bayley but on another night it could have been a different story
