TELFORD SNOOKER LEAGUE

Match Report - 2013/14

Division One

Superb result not only for Anstice C, but probably the front runners at the top of the league. Had to write a match report, as im sure not many captains get the chance to mention thier player beating Matt Davies! (sorry Matt :-)) but this win gave us an opertunity to go on and snatch the match, as we need to pick up more frames to stay up. So well done to Lee Cross, and im sure someone will revieve the backlash from Shifnal B...

Division Two

A great start to the second half of the season and 2014 for Shifnal F who had a resounding 5-0 win over Anstice B. The match started with Spencer Rowley handsomely defeating Frank Williams including a well constructed 37 break. Chris Painter threatened to run away with his match against Stew Wimbush with an early potting display but credit to Stew for fighting back and forcing Chris to battle for the win. The third frame was a close affair with both Chris Petford and Nigel Wallcroft misfiring before Chris took the final brown to pink to win the frame. Willie Brown potted well in defeating Steve Smallwood to make the score 4-0 to Shifnal Rob Wright completed the night with a good win against Billy Watson to make the final score 5-0 to Shifnal F. An excellent night of snooker and banter and wishing the Anstice lads all the best for the remainder of the season.

Division Three

Bayley Z produced their best result of the season so far with a hard fought win against Maddocks B ,Tugboat set the ball rolling with an amazing comeback against James O\'Hara , 30 points down & requiring 4 snookers , he produced some fine snooker play to claim the frame 59-55 . That set the scene for our \'player of the season-so far\' Paul Rhodes to bring us back down to earth with a 29-54 defeat by Maj Ilyas . However moral was restored when Iain Atkinson ground out a 48-35 win against Neil Warrender. \'Norway\' Morgan then continued the winning streak , defeating Chris Birkett 53-31 . Allen Francis completed the \'rout\' beating Roy Lowe 43-30 , giving the Bayley boys a rare 4-1 victory . With a cup semi-final looming , we hope this scoreline wont be repeated as we dont want to jeopardise our handicap !!!
