Hadley
A were visited by the Shifnal C side this week, and what a
match it turned out to be! Mick Hughes rolled back the years
with a great display of snooker having a 27 break during the
frame. Chris Lawson stuck to his task though, and in the end
after fluking the pink, took a great black along the bottom
rail to take the first point for Shifnal. Next up, Alan turner
played Richie Heighway, and at the start you would have
thought Alan had never seen a cue before! However, things
clicked a bit later on and it turned out to be another
entertaing match, but this time Alan got the point for Hadley.
John Williams played Sam Drake next, and although John started
well, he went off the boil a little and Sam went on to
give his side the lead again. Next Graham Darrall took on Ade
Henry, with Ade not getting the best of starts. Graham got
himself into a good lead but then Ade produced a 26 break
which put him back into a challenging position. Coming to a
black ball game decider, Ade would have been very disappointed
with his safety shot, and left Graham, not an easy black, but
Mr. cool popped it in to set up a decider between Andy
Kendrick and Colin Gittus. This was a super performance from
Andy who knocked in a wonderful 52 break, effectively ending
any challenge from Colin. Every-one agreed that it was a great
nights snooker enjoyed by us all.
awful!!!!
bloody awful thats all i can say. only Daz Pountney played
anything like, how we are 3rd in the league is beyond me.
What
has happened to Shifnal? Since leading the league a few weeks
ago, they are in freefall and continued that against Bayley Q,
who played well and thumped them 5 - 0. Rob Cook beat Brian
McMillan in a poor first frame with both players struggling.
Steve Weatherall took the second frame with some good steady
snooker against Terry Askew. Lee Newton had a lovely 39 break,
which ended with a jawed red or would have been a lot more. He
comfortably took frame 3. Noel Hitch and Mark Hebden had a
closer game with Noel winning on the colours for 4 - 0. Geoff
French was on his way to breaking the duck, but Richard
Tranter had a 22 clearance to take the frame and match 5 - 0.
Well played Bayley, though they were never pushed to be fair.
