Division
Two.
Dawley
C v Maddocks E
Great
match, three frames resulting in a black ball frame! Excellent
quality from both sides...
Shifnal
F v Anstice B
A
tightly contested first frame saw Willie Brown eventually
overcome Frank Williams to give the Shifnal team a 1-0 lead.
Birthday boy Rob Wright rolled back the years with a
scintillating display of potting and safety play to heavily
defeat Noel Stones 69-4 , not many people have done this to
Noel or will do so again.Happy Birthday Rob!! The third frame
saw Nigel get off to a flier then Chris came back into the
game before Nigel finished the game off to bring Anstice right
back into the mix. Frame 4 was a nip and tuck affair which saw
Steve pip Dave on a respotted black to make the match all
square at 2 frames all, game on. Chris Petford scored heavily
in defeating Billy Watson to give the Shifnal lads a 3-2 win.
An excellent night\'s snooker played in a sporting manner by
both teams and topped off with a piece of Rob\'s birthday
cake. Wednesday nights don\'t get any better than this.
Third
Division.
Bayley
Z v Maddocks D
Bayley
Z\'s plan at the start of the season was to win all our home
games & draw(!) the away games ,this unfortunately for one
reason or another hasn\'t quite worked , however it doesn\'t
help when you have an 11 WEEK break between home games ! Even
the fixture secretary\'s against us ! Having finally returned
\'home\' Bayley Z turned in one of their worst performances of
the season losing in style 5-0 to Maddocks D . Paul Rhodes was
unable to keep up his 100% record this year losing really well
against Mike Wainwright , who in fairness played some
brilliant snooker & came out a 63-6 winner. Tony Morgan
came up against a very determined Graham Arnold who edged the
game 42-30. Next on was The Tug against Ken Davies who rolled
back the years & played some fine snooker coming out a
convincing winner 57-18 . Next on was Iain Atkinson who took
on Ian Courtney,(\'took on\' is probably the wrong phrase -
Watched was more like it !) losing 15-80 , which included a
fine 30 break from Ian. The final frame saw Allen Francis put
in a spirited performance against Fred Spragg , but despite a
valiant effort to bring some pride back to the team , finally
succumbed 35-60 . With our league title hopes in tatters &
team moral at an all time low ,we need to quickly pick
ourselves up for the forthcoming cup match .
