TELFORD SNOOKER LEAGUE

Match Report - 2012/13

Good night of snooker this. Sean started things off well for Dawley with a cracking 63 break. Should have been more but he rattled a tricky red down the rail with the black at his mercy. Mick Reynolds rolled back the years in frame 2, playing well on his return to his old stomping ground. Solid snooker saw him easily defeat the taxi driver. Ian Skelton was too strong for Pete in frame 3. Pete was 58 points behind with four balls remaining so he duly potted them all to give the score some respectability. Scrappy frame 4 saw both players missing chances. Leigh got his potting boots on tho\' and ran out comfortable winner to take the match for Maddocks. Final frame Mark Jones never gave Dave a chance early doors. Tight frame towards the end tho\' as Dave came back well only to have bad luck when potting the black after getting out of a snooker on the blue which left him at the snookers required stage. So that was that, another point on the board for the Dawley boys, ............. and all done & dusted by ten past nine !!

good win for Anstice, & a fair result. Superb 30 clearance from keith to take the 1st frame on the pink.Well done to neil, who inflicted a first league defeat for some 18 months on matt davies. frame 3 was another close battle, but good safety and a 30 break towards the end enabled Darren to pull away and beat Angus.2 close frames to finish, and a typical battling performance from linsay took frame four on the black, and Ian was unlucky, having recovered from 30 down, Simon potted a solid last black to take frame 5.Anstice remain hot on broseley\'s heels, and Shifnal remain on the fringes in 5th place, and with a game in hand may yet be in the running for the title.

Bayley Q vs Eden B. \"An Englishman\'s home is his castle\", but would the Bayley convert home advantage. Frame 1 saw a match up of two form players as Steve Weatherall took on Michael Mancini. Steve got some reds with colours early on to open a lead, but Mike responded with some potting of his own including a 19 break to go in the lead. With one red remaining the scores were locked at 34-34 when Mike presented Steve with a chance. Steve took the pots he required including a fluked green on route to clear up with a 34 break. Frame 2, Rob Cook vs Lewis Round with some shared exchanges early on, but Rob got the cannons firing and never looked back playing a fine frame to win 61-23. Frame 3 saw the battle of the Chris\'s with Durham taking on Morris. Neither player got into full flow but it was Chris M who built a lead, Chris D battled back with some solid safety but missed his chance on the yellow. That was enough for Chris M to hit back for Eden in a hard \"fort\" frame winning 79-52. Frame 4 with old foes Lee Newton vs Dan Morrison (who always draw each other) got underway. It looked like the court jester had placed the balls on the table, with both reds and colours all ending up in the bulk end. This overcrowding left very little options for potting, so a tactical and scrappy frame was contested, so it was no surprise for it to be decided on the black. Bayley pulled up the drawbridge with Lee just edging it 49-48 to secure the match win. Frame 5 saw Noel Hitch taking on Gurd Singh, and it was Gurd playing some exceptional safety and potting who put in a classy performance outplaying a determine Noel, to record a 65-32 win. Gurd pulled back a frame for Eden but the \"knight\" belonged to Bayley Q as home advantage just about swung it 3-2 in their favour. Many thanks to a very sporting Eden B who I am sure will provide tough opposition for the remaining teams to come.
