Third
Division.
Bayley
Q vs Bayley Juniors. \"A rolling stone gathers no
moss\" which was true of Bayley Q\'s first player Jimmy
Langley who had made the move across from the Juniors since
last season. Jimmy was on fire as he went round the table with
the moves like Jagger, with both 20 and 21 breaks on route to
defeating an unlucky Mike Watkins who never got the chance to
show the improvement in his game. Frame 2 saw Chris Durham
take on Daniel Ballard, with Dan putting down some good
potting to open up a comfortable lead. Dan then added some of
his trademark tactical snookers, but Chris was equal to it
with some impressive get outs. This allowed Chris to make a
comeback taking it to the pink before Dan clinched frame 2.
Frame 3 with Lee Newton vs Dan (happy feet) Lane, where Lee
was in fine form preventing Dan from producing the moves to
match his impressive festive penguin jumper, allowing Lee to
put the home side 2-1 up. Frame 4 matched up Steve Weatherall
against Ryan Dudley with both players equal blow for blow in a
sustained safety exchange, it was Steve that added some
potting to go on and win the frame. Frame 5 saw Noel Hitch vs
Tom Mulholland, with Tom also gathering no moss as he took
part in the 3rd different team plus division in as many
seasons. A good battle followed but a 22 break from Tom along
with a crucial foul on the pink for his opponent left Noel as
the one who could get no satisfaction on the night. The win
for Tom pulled a frame back but the 3-2 score line ended up in
Bayley Q\'s favour.
A
good close match between Shifnal and Maddocks could have gone
either way. Terry and Maj opened up, with Maj having the
chance to pinch the frame by taking the last four colours,
only to foul on the black. Mark and Neil then had a close
second frame, with Neil unusually missing some balls and Mark
potting well to take a 2-0 lead. Jamie pulled one back against
Mokesh with a comfortable win and a nice 27 break. James
equalised beating an out of sorts Geoff. Brian and Ben then
had a great last frame with some really nice safety, Brian
edging the frame for a 3-2 win. A good result for Shifnal and
a good comeback from Maddocks
