Hadley
A were away to maddocks A this week, and what an entertaining
match it turned out to be. In the first frame Mick Hughes
played as well as I have seen him play, and enjoying his
snooker this season. Phil Davies contributed to a highly
entertaining frame, with Phil taking the last three colours to
send the game to a respotted black. After a couple of
reasonable safety shots it was Phil who left the black on for
Mick to win the opening frame. Next up Alan Turner took on Ian
Skelton. A very one sided affair this, but \"Skelly\"
produced wonderful snooker; can\'t remember seeing such a
fluent cue action for ages! Thought he would knock something
in every time he approached the table. Leigh France played
John Williams in the next and his potting was superb. With the
colours nearly all tied up, John clawed his way back into the
frame with the baulk colours being the only ones available.
Towards the end of the frame it was John, who after laying a
fine snooker, went on to win on the pink. Dave France and
Graham Darrells match was a bit dour with Dave enjoying the
run of the ball. Having said that, Dave potted some good balls
and by the time Graham got going it was a little too late. The
decider between Andy Kendrick and Mick Reynolds, (my old
team-mate from years ago) produced another fine display of
snooker. After Mick had a miss called on him, Andy took on a
shot to nothing and nearly won the frame at that point but
putting himself into a good lead. In the end it was a
comfortable win for Andy, but great snooker to watch from both
players.
A
very tightly contested match opened up with Matt needing pink
and balck to get across the line against Steve Adams and the
second frame was also won on the black when Angus cleared the
last three. The next frame was excellent to watch Tom made a
60 from 20 behind and Si Buddulph made Tom clear from the blue
to take the frame. The next two were shared to give Shifnal a
3-2 win. Well played.

Yet
another defeat for the Z\'s this time against Maddocks B ,
Tony Morgan however got them off to a \'flying\' start against
Maj Ilyas winning his frame 45-20 in record time (!). Richard
\'Tugboat\' Benting played his best snooker for weeks against
Neil Warrender but still lost on the black 48-58. (Iain
Atkinson lost !) Paul Rhodes then lost 26-43 to James Ohara
before Allen Francis fought bravely in vain before succumbing
to a 22-50 defeat to Ben Godding . We have finally
relinquished our title challenge for this year & are
concentrating solely on the cup !!
Shifnal
are returning to form. Brian McMillan opened the scoring,
beating Joe Rixom in the first frame. Brian played with a bad
back which seemed to settle his cue action nicely as he played
well. Mokesh Mehmi beat Stuart Gwillam to go 2 - 0, Mo winning
his first frame of the season. Geoff French lost to Jon
Calvert in a close game, Jon clearing the colours for the win.
Terry Askew beat Tom Gowers to make it 3 and Mark Hebdon had a
good win against lee Foster for 4 - 1 which included a nice 25
break.
Thanks
for your reports, keep them coming, and don,t forget to let me
know the names of any unlisted player so that I can add them
into the format, thanks, Alan.
