A short report on the Trebles
Final played at Shifnal on 15th April
The Telford Snooker League
Triples Final was a Shifnal derby with bragging rights at
stake for both teams
Frame 1 - John Fallows (
Shifnal B) v Spencer Rowley ( Shifnal F )
A tentative start to the match
saw eventually saw Spencer outpot John but without doing any
damage on the scoring front due to a couple of misses on the
black early in the frame. Down to the colours and for some
unknown reason Spencer decided to pot the green ball whilst
the yellow was the ball on , a costly mistake at that stage of
the frame. Despite this Spencer won the frame by the score of
58 points to 52 points.
Frame 2 - Matt Davies ( Shifnal
B ) v Chris Petford ( Shifnal F)
Early safety bout in the frame
finally saw Chris come up short on his attempted return to
baulk Matt confidently knocked in a break of 61 quickly
followed by another of 42 to go 103 points ahead. Chris
eventually got on the score board, potting a few of the
colours, with Matt winning the frame by 122 points to 14
points
Frame 3 - Angus Way ( Shifnal
B) v Chris Painter ( Shifnal F )
With an 102 point lead , there
was no way that Angus was going to lose the match as it was
practically won already. However there was an aside to this
match as Chris had beaten Angus in the Shifnal Alan Bott
tournament the previous week and revenge was on Angus's mind.
It was not to be for Angus though as Chris again played
solidly throughout and thoroughly deserved his 77 points to 42
points win
Final result , Shifnal B 216
points Shifnal F 149 points
A well deserved win for the
Shifnal B team with the Shifnal F team left to think what
could have been if Matt Davies had not won his frame so
convincingly.
