Good
game where the Bayley lads managed to just nick a couple of
frames on the Black. Highlight of the night was Matt\'s 93
break in the first frame from nowhere. After running out of
position a couple of times his recovery shots were superb. Kev
cleared from green to black to force a re-spot. After winning
the toss and putting Aaron in Kev was surprised to see the
black hanging over the middle bag and took the frame. Craig
and Angus had a cracking game and by Angus\'s own admission
the score didn\'t really reflect the game. There was only a
point in it before Angus laid a really tough snooker which
cost Craig 20 points in \"misses\". Angus cleared
the majority of the colours to leave Craig with no way back.
Ben found himself 30 down to Lynsay after a couple of visits
but clawed his way back in with a really good 35 knock. Lynsay
again dug in and with a real quality snooker which ben missed
6 times he found himself 20 in front with just the colours
remaining. Ben got a sniff and cleared up to take the frame on
the Black. John Fallows was to good for the out of sorts Danny
Oliver in the last and with the aid of some great long pots
and a couple of good 25+ breaks won the frame with 2 reds
remaining. Fair
result on the balance of play and im sure the
Bayley lads would have settlet for this before the night
The
first frame was a long and very high scoring encounter ending
when keith Price cleared the last four balls to win on the
black. Mick Brezwyn made it all square with a solid performance against Ian Duffy. Simon Mcleod
made the early running in frame three - Neil Price gradually
built momentum closing the game out when he potted the brown.
Neil Caswell and Simon had the third close frame out of four
before Simon edged it on the pink. Adam Moore compiled a very nice break of 65
taking the last 9 reds with colours to secure another win for
the champions elect.

Bayley
Q vs Newport A. Newport A had travelled to the Bayley
expecting a tough match as normally transpires between these
two sides, however they had not expected some of the Bayley Q
players to be sporting some dodgy looking moustaches (for
Movember, a campaign to raise awareness of men\'s cancer
issues). Frame 1 saw Chris Fletcher taking on Rushpal Bassi,
with neither player getting their potting going, it was
Rushpal who played the better safety to win the first 44-29
for Newport. Frame 2 saw Chris Durham vs Wai Loon Loo, with
Chris losing in their previous meeting (when clean shaven), it
was Chris who came out of the blocks the quickest with some
assured potting. Wai Loon Loo then found his stride with some
good potting and clever safety of his own to come from a long
way back needing brown onwards to force a re-spot. He managed
the brown, but Chris replied with the blue, an unlucky fluke
on the pink for Wai Loon Loo meant Chris won 57-47 by a close
shave. Frame 3 continued in the Bayley\'s favour as Lee Newton
got back to winning ways taking the frame 67-25 against Harry
Bassi. Frame 4, could Steve Weatherall emulate his Movember
colleague (Chris Durham) against Mark Hebden. Both players
exchanged scores and fouls in the early stages with Steve
slightly in the lead going into the colours. After some safety
exchanges and snookers with Steve growing (faster than his
moustache) in confidence, he took from yellow to blue to wrap
up the frame 60-26. Frame 5 saw Rich Tranter take on the aptly
named Mokesh Mehmi, with Rich carrying over his confidence
from last week, plus some very unlucky rub of the green for
Mokesh, Rich came out the victor 66-23 to the delight of the
Bayley Q spectators (Rob Cook, John Tranter, and John
\"here we Mo again\" Styles). A final word of praise
has to go to Newport who battled well (despite being forced to
change their line up each week) and came off 4-1 down in a
slightly harsh scoreline for them on the night.
A
match which wasnt expected from our point of view. Bayley D
playing well and joint top of league 3 gave us what can only
be said as a kick up the ass as we were lagging behind in the
lower league, even though we were only 4 points behind (very
tight to say the least. Cant believe we won this game with
some very good players to beat. The final frame became the
nail biter with Chris Gifford & Jim Lewis taking the game
to the wire, with Chris coming out on top by only 3 points,
coming from behind to pot the blue, pink & black for the
victorious win. I bet the Anstice will be happy as long as
they won too.....??
Thanks
to the teams that sent in the reports.
