DIVISION 3
Newport
A, who started the season really well before hitting a bad run
recently continued it at home to Bayley Jnrs. Newport fielded
2 new players and by all accounts it was a good match, with
Bayley Juniors picking up their first win of the season -
Newport still to win a game at home! Well done Bayley. Newport
really have to turn this run around
Bayley
Z kept up their 100% record ,losing 3-2 to Maddocks B ,
Tugboat Benting lost the 1st frame 62-35 against Graham Arnold
. Anthony Norway Morgan took on Jamie Howells in a very
entertaining game (so i'm told !)losing on the black 45-48 .
Iain Atkinson , playing in an unaccustomed 3rd place , got the
better of Neil Warrender 44-33 , to give the Z's a fighting
chance , the winning streak continued when Paul Rhodes won his
1st frame of the season, in another tight game against Ben
Godding , keeping his nerve to win 52-47 . However, Al Francis
soon brought the team back down to earth losing the final
frame of the evening 71-41 against Ken Davies . The Zs would
like to take this opportunity to welcome Bayley Juniors into
the league , it's nice to see some new , young blood , taking
part . We will endeavour to ensure that they enjoy their time
& NOT finish up bottom of the league , just to give them
that little bit of confidence !
DIVISION 1
Dawley A vs
Bayley B. A good night of snooker, two good sets of lads
having good banter. Sean Nolan up first played Phil Whitby.
Both players potted well, unfortunately Sean did'nt get
position on any colours after potting several good reds. Phil
potted well and ran out winner by 48 points to 30. Alex Nolan
then played the in form Ben Sewell. Great frame this, with Ben
knocking in a 51 which looked likely to be more until he
surprisingly missed a relatively easy red with a few points
still left on the table. Frame score 64 - 24. Third frame Pete
Nolan v Kev West. Pete went into an early lead only for Kev to
come back well with some solid snooker. With just the colours
remaining Kev was 22 points in front. Much to the detrement of
the Telford AMATEUR snooker league the miss rule is in force
in division 1 and this meant that from being in a frame
winning position Kev went from 22 in front to 14 behind after
Pete laid a decent snooker. Fortunately justice prevailed and
Kev held is nerve to pot blue and a very good pink to win the
frame 64 points to 56. Frame four Carl Walker v Craig Baugh.
Carl proved too strong for the young potter and with some good
solid snooker ran out comfortable winner 67 points to 3. Final
frame Mark Jones v Dickie Beddall. The Dawley player was out
of sorts after the events of frame 3 but managed to score
enough points to beat an unlucky Dickie with a frame score of
65 points to 26. Match score Dawley A 2, Bayley B 3. Well Done
to the Bayley lads.
Hadley
B vs Eden A - Darren Pountney found his potting boots to put
Hadley 1-0 up after a fortunate fluke early on never looked
back compiling breaks of 30 and 26. Roger Lewis soon levelled
the scores with a good win against Laki Badhan. Roger had
taken an early lead in this one onlt for Laki to pull back and
have a relatively good chance to go ahead with 2 reds left but
after missing a simple red in the middle, Roger pulled away to
secure the spoils. Tom Mullholland had the first 2 chances
against Craig Reynolds but after not capitalising, Craig got
into his usual quick flowing style and ran out easy victor,
putting Eden 2-1 up. Then came a strange frame where neither
player could take advantage of each others mistakes, in the
end, Ken potted a black over the pocket to level the scores at
2-2. Dave Smout playing only his second frame of the season
could not hold onto Richy Jones and Richy went onto win the
frame comfortably and getting the win for Eden 3 frames to 2.
Maddocks
E vs Broseley - Great potting from broseley all night ,fanastic
break from Mick Brezwyn just missing out on a century rattling
a tough red . Next
year we are playing dominoes .
DIVISION 2
Shifnal
C used all their get out of jail free cards to sneak past
Anstice D,who were very unlucky not to have won. Shifnal won
3-2.
