Bayley
B came back from the dissapointment of a 5 nil away defeat at
Anstice with a good 4-1 in against the Bayley E team. Ben
Sewell wasnt\'t at his normal flowing best but with a bit of
good fortune and a good finish had enough to get past Andy O
Brien. Craig Baugh and Tom McDonald was a scrappy frame but
Craig always had his nose just in front and took the frame on
the Blue. Kev West knocked in a good 25 which could have been
a few more but for missing a routine blue into the middle bag
in his frame against Dave Beyer but the lead just kept in tact
as Dave couldn\'t quite get himself back into it and Kev took
the frame on the Blue. Dickie Beddall rolled back the years
and played superbly to beat Dave France
with a couple of great long pots and steady scoring. Last up
was Ali jones who got a consolation point on the board for the
E team easily seeing off Danny Oliver.
on
a perfect running table (i wish) this was a closely fought
contest. the 1st frame was a touch 1 sided with lee missing a
few chances that john punished. frame 2 was a hour long epic
with both players showing some great safety, Matt finally
running out with the win. with the score at 2 nil to the
visitors up stepped eden\'s cappo to stop the rot. he did just
that with some good pots and some good run of the balls. frame
4 was 1 of the best frames
we\'ve seen for a while with richie jones leaving angus
needing snookers with 2 reds left on the table. But Angus
never gave up and after a few snookers and free balls got
himself into a position to win the frame. calmly clearing up
all the colours to leave himself a black down the rail for a remarkable comeback...... it rattled
in the jaws and was left for Rich to calmly cut back the black
into the corner pocket for a frame that had all our hearts
pumping. the decider was a nervy affair that ended in craig
beating lynsey with some good run of the balls just at the
right time for the eden player. 3-2 to eden the final result.
well played lads
Steve
Adams got the home-side off to a great start with a superb 66 clearance.
Mick Brezwyn followed up winning a much tighter frame against
young Tom. Darren Poutney lost early ground to Neil Caswell
and though he clawed it back Neil Secured a very good win on
the colours.
Laki potted well in restoring some pride for the visitors.
John Banks sealed a good night for Broseley with a 69 break
and in the process the first 4-1 win of the season.

Bayley
Q vs 2nd Club B. Frame 1 saw Chris Fletcher making his home
debut against former Coddon 1st division player Dave Lloyd, so he knew he would
be up against it as a close frame came down to the last few colours. However Chris made home table advantage
pay as he potted two pressure shots on the blue and pink to
claim a very well earned win 53-38. Frame 2 saw the regular
pairing of Chris Durham vs Chris Cotterill, this one turned
into a close scrappy frame with Chris Durham edging on the
later colours 52-31 to increase the lead to 2-0. Frame 3 saw
some very good potting from both Lee Newton and Nick Holmes,
but it was Lee amassing the greater share of the points to win
64-24 and secure the win for the Bayley lads. Next it was the
familiar faces of Steve Weatherall vs Keith Mears, who both
showed each other a lot of respect and safety shots, but it
was Steve who made the most of the chances allowed, to win
65-16 and add to the Bayley\'s tally. The final frame of the
night saw Rob Cook take on Dave Lloyd Junior, which proved
that it is very difficult to avoid two Lloyd knockout punches,
as Dave Junior showed where his pedigree comes from with some
trademark Lloyd potting belters to overcome Rob 57-37 and save
the whitewash. This left a score-line 4-1 to the Bayley Q,
though the match was closer than this suggests.
Anstice
C welcomed league leaders Newport A this week, who boasted an
away record this season
of played 2, won 2 without conceding a frame to date. Both
teams were expecting a tough match and so it proved. In the
opening frame neither player could get flowing until some
crucial pots saw Danny Weaver put the home side in front,
winning 55-19. The second frame was a different story with two
in form players meeting. Mokesh Mehmi played some outstanding safety play but Andy Elliott proved too strong on
the night putting the Madeley lads further ahead 72-12. The
third frame was a very tight and tactical affair with a fine
exchange of safety play at times. In the end it was the
unbeaten Brian McMillan who took his chances better to edge
out home skipper Noel Hitch 64-43 and reduce the deficit to
one. It was another unbeaten player, Danny Evans, who got in
front early on in the next frame and he never looked back to
clinch the match for the Anstice winning 76-24. In the final
frame Paul Devey finally shook the rust off his cue to chalk
up his first victory of the campaign with a fine 58-22 win.
The first is always the hardest so they say and Im sure he\'s
pleased to put an end to the banter! Overall it was a great
result for the Anstice side but it was a lot closer than the
frame score might suggest.
Thanks
to the teams that sent in the reports.
