Division
One newcomers vs the ever strong Shifnal B was going to test
Hadley B all the way and see whether they have the cridentials
to stay in the division. Laki Badhan went on first and started
brightly against Aaron Sparkes but after a few slack safety
shots found himself out of the frame as Aaron duly punished
him to put Shifnal 1 ahead. Matt Davies then potted some great
shots to run out comfortable winner white washing Tom
Mullholland with a 44 finish, 2-0 to Shifnal. Then the tables
were to turn as Phil Dix, who was called into action 10
minutes before the match as Hadley were short, outgunned Angus
Way with a fine performance of tactical snooker to make it
Shifnal 2 - Hadley B 1. Ken Booty then found some of his best form of the season to square things up at 2-2 with an
impressive win against John Fallows, although it was fair to
say that John was below par this evening. Darren Pountney then
had the opportunity to put a rare defeat past Shifnal playing
Linsay Knox but didn\'t have things his own way in this one
but with a strong second half of the frame managed to edge
Linsay out 60 points to 43 and produce a fine win for the
Hadley boys, 3 frames to 2.
A
tale of two halves for these two teams. Broseley won the first
three frames
fairly comfortably before Stu edged out Neil Caswell with the
brown, blue and pink to win the frame. Ade Henry secured the
final frame for the visitors playing well in beating Mike
Brezwyn. Another 3-2 result for the Broseley boys!
Division
Two
a
hard fought match which could of gone either way started with
a quick frame won by ian ferriday with some great potting. The
second was much closer as colin gittus needed 2 snookers on
the brown and rode his luck and won on the black. The third was
nip and tuck from the start but sam drake pulled clear with the last
few colours.chris
lawson won a solid forth over toby welsh leaving shaun lane to
battle through in the last frame.
Division
Three
Back
to winning ways for Bayley D at home to a strong Anstice side,
although they never had it easy as Anstice may have gone away
thinking they should have continued on with their 3- 2 winning
streak. Frame one went to Andy Elliot who eventually took a
scrappy game 63 34 against an out of form
Ade Smith, frame two saw the debut of Chris Morgan Adams for
Bayley D after many years playing for Bayley A, Chris showed a
lot of respect against Chris Woods grinding out a solid 50 20
win to even things up. Dave Dudley and Mark Beddall continued
the winning steak with good wins against Paul Devey and Noel
Hitch, Danny Evans managed to run out the eventual winner in
the last against an unlucky Brian \"Abba\" Aberdeen
on the final couple of colours. Bayley D were more than happy with a 3-2
win against a side that will be pushing for league honours.
Bayley
Z doubled their seasons total of winning frames against Allscott & still ended up on
the losing side 2-3 . Richard \"Tugboat\" Benting
should have won the opening frame , missing a relatively easy
black to allow Kev Waland to claim the frame 56-44. Paul
Rhodes played some good snooker against Sean Parkes , however
Sean \"eventually\" took the frame 54-35. Tony
Morgan , returning to his more familiar 3rd place , belied his
\"Norway\" tag to win his game 67-39 , obviously
lees beer helped steady his cue ! Al Francis made a welcome return
to the team but could not prevent Jason Allen from
powering his way to a 68-48 win. It was left to Iain Atkinson
to salvage a little bit of pride with a 50-25 win against
David Finney . A very enjoyable evening spent with a very
amicable bunch of lads ! Also it was good to welcome Al
Francis back to the team , as last week was the 1st week in 20
odd years of league snooker that we didn\'t have a Francis in
the team , either Al , Roy ,Danny or Ken , which is an
extraordinary achievement considering we never win anything !
Terry
Askew got the Shifnal lads off to a great start by winning a
nervy first frame against Andy Shaw. Some good safety play enabled Sanjay Shavhan to get the
better of Jamie Mills in a closely fought frame to put Shifnal
2-0 ahead. Sean Cross gave a potting masterclass , including a
break of 28 ,against Will Brown who was never given a chance
in the frame due to Sean\'s very good safety play. Dawley C
brought the match all square when Luke Edwards dispatched an
out of sorts Geoof French to set up a final frame decider
between Richie Goldie and Chris Gifford. A scrappy start to
the frame then climaxed in a tight finish when the match was
won on the final pink by Richie. A tight match which could
have gone either way.
Thanks
to the teams that sent in the reports.
