Division
One.
Hadley
B played hosts to the favourites for the title this season,
Anstice A and took them right to the wire. Phil Dix and Keith
Price battled it out in the first frame only to see Keith pull
away at the end with an importnat 32 break to put Anstice 1-0
up. Ian Duffy with a solid display including a 43 break made
it 2-0 defeating an out of sorts Laki Badhan. Ken Booty
rekindled some of last year\'s form and calmly slotted a 32
break in to pull a frame back for Hadley B, defeating Neil
Price. Tom Mulholland looked to have the frame going his way
until a cruel fluke on the brown allowed Simon Yeats to snatch
victory from the jaws of defeat and give Anstice the all
important 3rd frame. Darren Pountney, also with a 32 break
comfortably beat Adam Moore to make the scoreline more
respectable. Great match, good banter and well done to Anstice
for their achievements this season.
Division
Three.
After
clinching their place in the team knockout final last week,
Anstice C welcomed Bayley Juniors to Madeley looking for the 2
frames that would confirm promotion to the 2nd division.
Callan Rhodes started brightly for the young guns but the
experienced Chris Woods eventually wore him down to take the
1st frame for the home side. Making his debut for Bayley in
the next frame was Mike Watkins, but unfortunately for him he
faced the in-form Andy Elliott fresh from making a fabulous 84
break in practice, and once Andy got in front he never looked
back taking the frame and in doing so, ensuring his team would
be playing 2nd division snooker next term. In the 3rd frame
Dan Lane played some great snooker to lead for long periods.
Anstice\'s skipper Noel Hitch had to take the few chances he
had to pinch the frame 59-35. In the 4th frame Paul Devey
potted beautifully to create a fantastic opportunity to
challenge the divisions high break. Just when he appeared to
have done the hard work, he snookered himself on the final red
with all the colours on their spots, but his 37 was good
enough to make it 4-0. In the final frame it was Bayleys Ryan
Shervey who opened up with a lovely 24 break to storm in
front. Danny Weaver battled back to edge in front until, when
just requiring one snooker with pink & black left, Ryan
unluckily potted the pink. It was unfortunate for Ryan and his
team as they have definitely improved throughout the season,
and Im sure it won\'t be too long before they are challenging
at the other end of the table themselves. As news of the other
results filtered through, the five frames tonight proved
enough to crown Anstice C as champions in their first season.
Well done chaps, its been a great team effort.
