Terrible
performance on what was a big match; we missed an opportunity
to close the gap on the team in 4th spot. We just missed to
many chances as a team with only really Craig not ever having
a chance in his frame. Rich and Mick produced the frame of the
night with both players potting very well. Rich had a chance
on the last red, which would have put him in front. Once
missed Mick never looked like losing. It’s fair to say that
we have missed the old boy this season. Maybe now we have
moved to a nice table and venue we might be able to persuade
him to come back to where he belongs!!!

Shifnal
C V Newport B. The first frame started a little slowly but
came to life when Richie Heighway started to pot and forced
ahead with a 22 break & won. Frame 2 was a frame of missed
chances until Shaun Lane got to the colours & potted
enough of them to win 64 - 53.The next frame Chris Lawson
potted & scored with almost every visit pulling clear
& then knocking in a 31 break to leave Wayne Weeks 55
behind, but he didn’t give up & continued to play still
needing 7 snookers. After most of the balls were potted Wayne
continued and went on to pot the pink & black to lose by
33 points. Well done Wayne! Frame 4 was a little closer with
Colin Gittus & Allan Davies going blow for blow early on
until Colin potted a few & eased clear to win 49 - 26. The
last frame between Sam Drake & Steve Speeke was about
chances taken & chances missed. Sam took his chances &
had a 31 break along the way to win 69 - 24.Final score
Shifnal C 5, Newport B 0.
Division
Three.
After
17 consecutive league defeats & 2 cup defeats, Bayley Z
finally got their season up & running with a 3-2 WIN
against Eden B!! Paul Rhodes got the better of Manny Singh
with a nervy 38-31 victory in the 1st frame. It could have
been so much better in the next frame had
\"Tugboat\" Benting not given his opponent Michael
Mancini an incredible 43 points in foul shots, Michael coming
out on top 80-51, had Michael not turned up then Tug would
only just have beaten himself on the black!! Tony
\"Norway/pink/lilly\"Morgan however got the Z\'s
back on track grinding out a very creditable 49-31 win against
Dan Morris. Al Francis then took on Chris Morris, but
couldn’t\'t maintain his previous good form & eventually
got beat 21-57. The last frame was a tense encounter between
Iain Atkinson (playing in an unaccustomed 5th place!) &
Gurd Singh, Iain kept his nerve though to record a 52-36 win,
which set off wild celebrations, which continued throughout
the night & into the early hours. Now, in the cold light
of day, we would like to offer our sincere apologies to the
rest of the teams who where trying to play snooker at the
Bayley club, also the staff at the club & more importantly
the population of Wellington for the rowdiness that ensued,
however these occasions are very rare & might not ever
happen again! However with a relatively easy run-in to the end
of the season (Anstice, Bayley Jnrs & Bayley D), who
knows!! Ps. only joking Anstice!
