Good
atmosphere as always with the Dawley Lads. Could have been 3-2
the other way, but the result probably shows a fair reflection
of the game. Ben played solid for the Bayley lads and Pete and
Joner never gave Mac or Craig a chance.
A
new venue for the Eden versus Grays team proved to be a huge
confidence boost, as we brushed aside a strong Hadley team.
Lee potted some lovely balls and didn’t really give Ken a
chance to get his hand on the table in the 1st
frame. The 2nd frame was a contrast in styles as the ever
steady Roger took on the potter Laki, Roger using his
experience quickly ran up a 40 point lead, only for Laki to
get back in the frame with a 35 break. The colours were nip
and tuck with Roger calmly slotting the pink for the frame.
Frame 3 saw the Grays Cappo open up his account with a 35
break to put Dave under pressure straight away. Two more
scoring visits later and they were shaking hands. 3-0. Frame
four saw Rich quickly jump out in front with a 20 lead. A
little fortune shone on Tom as he bounced in a break to get
himself in front. Then the usual nip and tuck ensued with
Richie winning the safety battle to do his usual clearance of
the colours to win. Frame five saw the battle of the big boys.
If you were there watching you wouldn’t have thought it
though, as both players struggled to string any consistency
together at all. After a lot of missed chances for both
players, Darren had an unlucky in off with only one red left,
and that was enough to let Craig in to clear the table for the
five nil victory. I would just like to say a big thank you to
Mr Poutney (and John Williams) who provided us with some rests
and half butts for our new venue, thank you Darren. Also a big
thank you to the other Hadley lads for a good evenings
snooker. Also a big thank you to Grays hotel who pulled out
all the stops to enable us to host this match at short notice.
We hope we can do them proud!!

Anstice
C welcomed Allscott to Madeley this week with both teams in
form after progressing to the team knockout semi finals just a
week ago. Paul Devey continued where he left off last week and
after a fine break of 31 he put the home side in front. The
two captains met in the next frame with the Anstice's Noel
Hitch just getting the better of Dave Finney 60 - 33 including
a 20 break along the way. In the 3rd frame Danny Evans had
just 3 scoring visits to the table of 20, 32 and 23 which
accompanied a couple of fouls by his opponent to help him run
out an impressive 83 - 18 winner. The next frame saw neither
player really get going but it was Anstice's Andy Elliott who
eventually came out on top. The final frame was always in the
balance with the lead switching several times. As it drew
towards the end Chris, just needing the pink, caught the far
knuckle and left it sitting over the middle pocket. Nick
Gwynne calmly took both pink and black to take a consolation
frame and well deserved point for the visitors. Final score:
Anstice C 4, Allscott 1. It was a good match played in a great
spirit and everyone at the Anstice would like to wish the
Allscott lads all the best for the rest of the season.
Fine
win with juniors improving taking the lead to a 3-2 victory
with reasonably close games played in good friendly spirit.
