Dawley
drafted in a ringer to take on the mighty Eden on their own
table. inflicting only their 2nd home defeat of the season.
1st frame saw Craig Reynolds knocked totally off his stride
with the introduction of C. Wraight to the Telford league. 2nd
frame was the frame of the night as roger kept his cool to
clear up the colours to beat Sean. Frame 3 saw an inform mark
keep dean on the top cushion for the majority of the frame
also a nice 47 break to run out a comfortable winner. Frame 4
saw Eden’s capo give Andy Garbett little chances to win the
frame before the colours. Frame 5 saw Pete Nolan break his
duck and bring home the win for Dawley, helped by the miss
rule; Pete amassed too much of a lead that rich just
couldn’t pull back. Well done Dawley, bad result for Eden in
their quest for a top 5 finish.

Bayley
Q vs. Eden B. Eden had provided Bayley Q\'s largest defeat of
the season from their first meeting, so Bayley Q were hoping
to reverse the outcome this time round. Frame 1 saw Rob Cook
vs. Manny Singh where a close encounter played out. Rob had
edged into the lead on the colours but Manny produced a
stylish well-taken clearance from blue to black to win 46-37.
Frame 2, Chris Durham vs. Chris Morris (anybody backing Chris
for this one would be on to a winner), in this case Chris
Durham won the battle of the Chris\'s 61-25. With the match
balanced at 1-1, frame 3 saw the familiar pairing of Lee
Newton vs. Dan Morris (the battle of the flare potters) with
some good snooker played by both it was Lee who tipped the
balance back in his favour again with a win on the pink 50-35.
Frame 4 saw Steve Weatherall and Michael Mancini lock horns,
with both of these having a good frame win ratio going into
the match. A somewhat scrappy and tactical frame followed but
it was Michael who potted a good pressure black to win 59-45.
This levelled the match at 2-2 with the decider taking place
between Chris Fletcher and Gurd Singh. The returning former
captain Chris showed all of his old credentials, playing some
solid snooker and roll out the winner 57-27 and claim a very
enjoyable and closely fought 3-2 victory in Bayley Q\'s favour.
The
divisions current top two teams met this week as Bayley D
travelled to Madeley to take on Anstice C, in what was sure to
be a close encounter with both sides in form after 5 nil wins
last week. Bayley deservedly edged the previous meeting 3-2 so
the first frame was always going to be important to set the
tone. The draw saw the two singles finalists pitted against
each other again but this time it was the home sides Paul
Devey who started strongly. He constructed a lovely 32 break
and continued to back it up with some fine potting to
establish a 60 point lead but the experienced Chris dug in and
with some great safety got a couple of free balls as he began
to close the gap. However, Paul called on all of his own
experience as he turned the clock back to inflict Chris\'s
first defeat and seal the first frame by 84 points to 38 in a
cracking frame from both players. The second frame was a
complete opposite from the first as the two captains played a
very tight frame with neither player able to open a sizeable
lead. In the end it was Noel that potted the pink to clinch it
for the Anstice lads. The third and fourth frames were very
similar with Andy Elliott knocking in a fine 24 the Danny
Evans compiling a nice 30 break to extend the home sides
advantage. In the final frame there was never much in it as
both players played some good safety before Chris managed to
seal the frame by taking pink and black to complete a 5-0 win
for the Anstice team. The score line doesn’t\'t tell the
full story as the match was much closer and we feel sure that
the Bayley boys will bounce back and be there right to the
end. Good luck for the rest of the season chaps and thank you
for another pleasant night of snooker (and good hearted banter
too).
