Division
One.
Disappointing
result for the home team after a good away win last week.
Things started brightly with Danny just edging out Lee Barker.
The next 3 frames could have gone either way but the Broseley
lads held their nerve better toward the end and took all 3.
John Banks potted really well in a scrappy frame, which suited
him better than the free flowing Craig Baugh we saw the week
before. 4-1 on the night could have been 3-2 the other way but
fair play to the Broseley lads
Division
Three.
Bayley
Q vs. Dawley C. This was always going to prove a tasty affair
after a close contest in the first half of the season, and
with Dawley C currently in 3rd spot and the Bayley Q 1 frame
behind in 4th spot in the division. With all to play for,
frame 1 saw Rob Cook once again taking on Jamie Mills, neither
player could get flowing so a tight encounter unfolded. Rob
was very unlucky to see his shot on the pink bounce back out
of the middle pocket, leaving Jamie to coolly seal the frame
win 37-23 for the Dawley lads. Frame 2 saw another familiar
pairing of Chris Durham vs. Luke Edwards, and it was Chris who
seized the initiative punishing any mistake, eventually
winning 66-13 to tie the match at 1-1. Frame 3 saw Lee Newton
vs. Chris Gifford, with Lee pulling out an early lead things
looked to be going Bayleys way, but a gutsy fight back
including some good potting and the ever expected high
standard of Chris\'s safety play had edged him in front at the
back end of the frame. Neither of these two know when they are
beaten and so it proved once again as Lee followed a pot on
the pink with a nerve jangling \"fishing tackle\"
long rest deciding pot on the black to win 73-60. Frame 4 the
3rd dual pairing between these teams as Steve Weatherall took
on Andy Shaw. Andy got into his stride quicker, playing some
assured snooker to open up a 19-point advantage with 1 red
remaining. Steve who knew this frame was vital took a leaf out
of Lee\'s book, with a mixture of improved safety and potting
to come back, winning on the pink 54-39, clinching the match
win for the Bayley. This was just as well with frame 5 seeing
Spencer Clarke unable to find the answers against a fully in
control Sean Cross sinking the majority of the pots to win
64-18 reducing Dawley's deficit. This important narrow 3-2 win
for Bayley Q levels their frames won in the division,
therefore helping the chasing pack in the race for 3rd spot.
