DIVISION

After
an excellent start to the new season, having lost just a
single frame in the first two matches, Newport B faced an
Anstice side full of experience.
In the first Nigel Wallcroft, back with Anstice B,
needed a snooker to overcome Colin Farge who’s safety play
during the match was exceptional. Mick Cahill won on the black
in the next after a late surge by John Yapp and Noel Stones
also had to pot the black to win against a dogged Keith
Gardner. At 3-0 up the Anstice side looked to be cruising but
John Darrock paid for missed colours early in the frame as
Wayne Weeks finished the stronger for Newport.
Allan Davies knocked in a 20 break early on and the
final black sealed the final frame for a 3-2 defeat in a match
which could have been 5-0 either way.
Bayley
Q who were missing 4 regulars played a 2nd Club
side who had 11 travelling players to choose from. Chris
Cotterill potted the balls that mattered to come out on top in
the first giving 2nd Club B army the advantage. Bayley
responded with Lee Newton getting the better of Nick Holmes to
level the scores. Steve
Weatherall overcame Keith Mears and Spencer Clarke got the
better of Ian Gaut to make it 3-1 to the Bayley. In the last
Roger Smith lead by Captains example with some fine potting to
defeat Rich Tranter and a second point for the away side.

With
both teams unbeaten Shifnal v Dawley Social was always going
to be a tight affair and only a superb 76 from Mat Davies was
enough to clinch the opener over Carl Walker. The Dawley side
responded when Alex Nolan knocked in a brilliant blue to seal
victory over Lynsay Knox and the match swung again when Angus
Way won the next against Pete Nolan. Frame 4 saw Nigel
Stallard open up an early 40 point lead over Sean Nolan and
despite getting himself back into the game a great pink from
Nigel was enough to seal the frame.
In the last John Fallows played Mark Jones and when
John took on one of his customary long shots he never looked
back, eventually knocking in a fantastic break of 85 to put
the gloss on a good evening for the Shifnal lads.
Broseley
A put their disappointing start behind them with an emphatic
5-0 win over new boys LDS G.
Wins for John Banks, Neil Caswell, Simon McLeod and
Mick Brezwyn plus a walkover must surely be a sign of things
to come.

Bayley
B took on Hadley B this week with both teams in good form. Kev
West took on Laki Badhan which saw Kev take the frame 62-37.
Tom Mulholland struggled to get into the game against Jon
Wright who was potting balls at will and opened up a 40 point
lead that proved to be decisive. The next two frames were
shared with Danny Oliver getting the better of Dave Smout and
Darren Pountney beating Dickie Beddall to set up the decider.
Bayley captain Dickie Oliver was in great potting form
and produced some quality shots to leave Lee Mayger playing
catch up throughout the frame with Dickie running out the
winner and taking the match for the Bayley Boys.
Unusually
this was the only home victory in the division as every other
game resulted in a 3-2 win for the away side.
The happiest of the victors were Maddocks D who put
their first victory of the campaign on the board with a win
over Dawley B. Doug
Morrey and Liam Goodman won for the Dawley side but Cheryl
Caswell, Ian Courtney and Roy Adams ensured their maiden
status was ended.
