Division
One.
In
division one this week Broseley entertained the Shifnal B side
with John Banks beating Aaron Sparkes to take the first frame.
Mick Brezwyn, up second, then lost to Matt Davies before Simon
McLeod restored the lead for Broseley. In a close frame,
Graeme long just lost out to Lindsay Knox, and the deciding
frame was taken for the Shifnal side by John Fallows,
including a forty break over Neil Caswell.

C were back to winning ways this week with a very close match
against Shifnal A. There were three games decided on a black
ball finish. The first frame saw a good battle and some great
potting from both players, Ritchie Davies having a 20 break,
but it was Garry Owen who won the frame with an excellent 22
clearance. Garry is producing some great snooker after a slow
start to the season. Mick Stokes must have thought he had won
the 2nd frame after being 20 points clear early in the frame,
but Mark Wordsell came back to take the frame on the black by
2 points. In the 3rd frame Andy Carson beat Ollie Wall. In the
4th Mark Tusel played well, and had an 18 break on his way to
a good victory over Steve Jones. In the decider it was home
captain Matt Bothwell against Mark Jones, and although Matt
struggled for most of the frame he managed to win it with the
help of an 18 clearance in a scrappy frame.
Ben
Sewell played solid snooker against Richie Heighway, with some
good long pots, eventually winning on the Blue. Tom Mulholland
was in good form against the unlucky Pete Clarke, who just
couldn’t get in against Tom. Tom had a couple of nice 20
plus breaks to win before the colours. The frame between Kev
West and Colin Gittus was a match littered with
loads of in off's, moments of madness, and moments of
brilliance. Kev found himself 25 up with 27 left on, and
managed to win the frame on the blue. Frame of the night was
between Danny Oliver and his nemesis Sam Drake. Danny got in
early and after two solid breaks found himself 41 in front.
Sam had hardly got a look in before Danny missed a routine red
with the rest, and Sam got in with a 25 which was closely
followed by another 16 to bring him back in it. Danny thought
he had it won after a good long yellow, but after missing an
easy green, Sam potted the green, brown and blue to leave the
scores level 46-46. A great snooker from Sam left Danny in
trouble and although he escaped Sam potted a great long pink
and landed perfect on the Black, which he potted to take the
frame 59-46, a great game! Dickie Beddall rolled back the years and potted
like a demon against Chris Lawson, who by his own admission
wasn’t at his normal flowing best. Dickie got a fortunate
snooker on the blue, and after Chris missed and left the blue
on, Dickie took the frame 60-37. Good match, which Bayley took
4-1

Bayley
Q versus Dawley C started with the contrasting styles of play
of Rob Cook and Chris Gifford, but they remained deadlocked up
to the colours when Chris was amazed to have angled Rob on the
blue, however Rob who learns quicker than he plays, angled
Chris back on the deciding black to take the first frame for
the Bayley 54 - 48. Dawley's Jamie Mills showed a touch of
class to capitalise on an out of sorts Chris Durham, to level
at 1-1. Next saw the battle of the quick potters with Sean
Cross getting the 2 snookers he required on the blue, but it
was not enough as Lee Newton wrapped up the frame 59-44 to put
Bayley ahead. At this point Dawley seemed concerned that the
match would not finish in time for next Wednesday's fixtures,
as a scrappy frame took place between Luke Edwards and Steve
Weatherall, with Steve potting the final black to secure a win
for the Bayley. The final frame saw Chris Fletcher who nipped
and tucked away at a large lead built up by Andy Shaw, but
Andy won this on the final black, leaving the score line 3-2
in Bayley's favour.

Footnote
from the League Secretary.
In
spite of the new website, texts from mobile phones, or even
emails, this has been the poorest season that I can remember
for sometime, where teams are not bothering to get their
results in to the league in time for publication.
Please
put a little more effort in chaps, thanks, Alan.
