Walley Harper got the home side off to a strong start building
up a good lead, but Chris Bates come to life on the colours at
the end to win the first frame by 3 points for the Bayley Q.
The 2nd frame saw Doug Morrey take on Steve Weatherall, a
close match with good & bad fortune on both sides saw a
couple of points in it going on to the colours, but some
precise safety
With the rub
of the green saw Steve triumph 69 - 40 to open up the
advantage to the Bayley. Frame 3 saw a battle between Tom
White and Lee Newton, although Lee slotted in a nice 22 break
towards the end, it was Tom who finished 5 points the better in
this frame for Dawley. Bayley's Chris Fletcher ran into an
inspired potting display by Dawley's Barry Roden, and despite
Chris taking some end colours, it was Barry who won 60 - 28 to
leave Dawley with a 30 point deficit. A cat & mouse affair
in the final frame saw Liam Goodman playing good safety to
highlight any weakness from Rich Tranter, but Rich remained
composed throughout winning 50 - 26 to leave the Bayley lads
traditional waistcoat night guiding passage to the Quarter

Consolation
cup: Lds A v 2nd club trench A; played from
Eden; the home side having to concede 65 on the handicap,
didn’t start well, when the league Chairman Ian Ferriday put
in a fine display to polish off Matt bailey 64-47 giving his
side a great start, frame 2 saw the in form Lee Elcock v Paul
Crooks, both players potting well throughout with Paul going
down 74-46, in the next G Wiley clawed back a further 39pts
winning 73-34, Stu Russell then put his side into a 32pt lead
with another good display beating D Welsh 69-22, despite a
vain effort from M Thompson in the last, Ade hung on 34-23,
newly promoted Eden G (formerly Lds G) faced an uphill task in
their match against Newport A, having to concede 125pts, they
started well in the 1st with T Bell putting in a
sparkling display out potting his opponent R Bassi 85-33, the
away side responded in the next with M Turnock potting well
throughout his frame 89-44 against J Jones, G Copson was up
next for the home side facing M Hebdon, in a very high scoring
frame, with some good pots from both players, Graham
eventually winning 69-62, A Leveneu took on M Mehmi over
100pts behind, he put in another solid display restricting
Mokesh to few chances, winning 69-22 giving R Leveneu a small
chance going into the last, with Roy being in sparkling form
this season, but it was a bridge too far and superb 25
clearance by Brian saw his side through to the next round,
Shifnal B(25) v Bayley A(125); J Fallows started brightly for
the home team pulling 44 back, beating A Burrows 78-34, and it
was more good news for the home side as a resurgent L Knox
played well to defeat B Mason 86-14, in frame 3 Matt Davies
faced the loon Chris Morgan-Adams, and Matt knocked in a
fantastic 99 break, with some fantastic long shots to keep
getting himself back into position and even though he played a
superb shot to finish close to the last red, it was always a
tight angle, Matt eventually winning 140-12 putting his side
in a commanding position, Angus Way v Steve Fletcher this was
a tight affair with Angus winning 67-54, leaving Nigel
Stallard to wrap things up in the last with some fine shots
against Maxwell Hodson. Hadley 'A' turned the form book upside
down with a victory in the consolation cup against 2ND CLUB
‘B’. Apart from the 1st frame which 2ND CLUB'S
Ian Talbot took 61-26 against Tugboat, the rest of the frames
were very close games, it went to the last frame and the last
ball of the night when Iain Atkinson potted the final black to
claim the frame and the match by a single point against Roger
Smith. Let’s not think about the league title, We are
concentrating on the cup this year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. (report
