First frame Carl Walker v Ian Duffy. Ian started well in
this frame and with breaks of 25 & 31 was well in command.
Carl had little chance from then on and Ian went on to put
the first point on the board for Anstice with a frame score
of 67 points to 15. Frame two saw "Chop" Garbett
up against Keith Price. Keith started well in this frame and
soon had a 20+ point advantage. Chop came back well, fortuitously
at times, and managed to get himself into a frame winning
position. This came to no avail though as Keith, needing the
last four balls, cleared up to win the frame on the black,
frame score 51 points to 39.
In the third frame Pete Nolan played Simon Yeats. Simon got
himself into an early lead in this frame. Pete came back well
and with the last four colours remaining the frame could have
gone either way. Pete potted an excellent brown to get good
position on the blue but unfortunately rattled the blue in
the jaws of the yellow pocket. With both blue and pink over
pockets Simon had the simplest of pots to win the frame. which
he duly did, frame score 60 points to 40. Frame four, Mark
Jones v Neil Price. Mark got of to a flier in this frame with
breaks of 27 and 30. Neil never really had chance to get going
after that and with reds remaining and a snooker required
Neil sportingly conceded the frame to the Dawley captain.
Frame score 59 points to 7.
The final frame saw Rick Bailey up against Adam Moore. A
decent frame of snooker saw the Anstice man take an early
lead. Rick dug in to get himself back into the frame only
for Adam to get back amongst the balls to score the points
required to win the frame, frame score 68 points to 34.

Coddon A are finding it difficult to get off the bottom of
the table at present, and this weeks match saw them at home
to Maddocks A. Maddocks A are playing with some resolve this
season, and this week was no different. Although Dave Lloyd
took the first frame for Coddon with a win over Phil Davies,
also making a 29 break, this was the only point of the evening
for Coddon. Mark Wall found Ian Eldridge still playing very
consistent and good snooker, with Ian winning this one. Andy
Jones lost to Leigh France, and in the next Ian Skelton for
Maddocks, showed no mercy to Tony Garmson to make it 3-1.
Although the last frame was close it was Dave France who took
it for Maddocks when he played Steve Downes.
Shifnal B were at home in the local derby match with their
F side. New signing for shifnal Darren Weston potted well
in his first frame, giving himself and early lead, but his
opponent, Rob Wright, responded with some good potting of
his own, and was unlucky not getting decent position on the
colours. Darren saw the frame out well, potting the remaining
colours to take the frame. In frame two, Matt Davies playing
Spencer Rowley, potted a couple of good reds with out landing
on a colour, but then when Spencer left him another chance,
Matt knocked in a superb 108. He got to 95 with some great
shots, and then left the white just above the black ball,
with the pink on its spot. Matt played a length of the table
pink, which just dropped in, and then cut the black in for
the break of 108.
Aaron Sparkes started well against Roy Martin, but Roy potted
some great long shots to keep himself in the game. Aaron played
some great safety to give himself the opportunity to open
up another good lead, and take frame three. Lindsay Knox started
well in the fourth frame, with Chris Painter not finding his
range, but then Lindsay just jawed a red and with-in two visits
Chris had put himself into a commanding lead to take the frame.teadily
to beat Rob Wright, but it was the next frame which witnessed
the best snooker of the evening. This frame saw Matt Davies
play Spencer Rowley, and Spencer could only watch and admire
a standard that most of us will never achieve, Matt knocked
in a 108 break in this frame!. Aaron Sparkes made it 3-0 beating
Roy martin, but in the next Chris painter gave the “F”
side hope, as he defeated Lindsay Knox. It was Angus Way for
the B side who made it 4-1 with his wi over Chris Petford.

Maddocks C saw their good run fade a little this week, when
the Broseley team came down to the Maddocks club. Darren Wilkie
for Maddocks, lost a close frame against Graeme Long, with
Mick Wincott also losing out to Neil Caswell. Darren Wincott
did win the next for the home side beating S. Shakespeare,
but Mick Brezwyn added the third for Broseley when he played
S. Hassack. Ian Cleary fared no better against Simon McLeod,
so the final result, 4-1 to Broseley.
Audco C, newly promoted this season, are acquitting themselves
very well in this division, and this week they visited the
Bayley A side, and went home with three of the five points
on offer. A very close match this one, with Steve Nichols
just losing out to Mick Pink 64-56, and equally as close Chris
Morgan-Adams retrieving a frame when he beat John Williams
53-44. Paul Proctor for Audco beat Arthur Burrows, and Pauls
team mate, Anthony Heathcote then got the better of Mike Healey.
Steve Fletcher won the last frame for Bayley when he played
Roger Lewis.
LDS A and Bayley E were involved in a very close match this
week at the Dawley club. After this result, it was the Dawley
side who came out top, and slightly ahead in this week’s
table. Lee Elcock had the narrowest win in the opening frame
when he was pitted against Andy Obrien. Lee won this one 56-51!
Graham Wiley made it 2-0 in another close frame when he beat
D. Beyer. Thing were buzzing for the Dawley lads after Jesse
Lowe added the third point, and the match win to Dawley with
a victory over John Squire. It was Ali Jones who started the
revival for the Bayley side when he returned a score line
of 60-28 playing Stu Russell
Second Division
Bayley F met long time leaders, Min Fats A, in this weeks
fixture, at the Bayley club. A very good match this! with
Phil Whitby taking a good lead against Neil Pearson, only
to see it whittled away with some good potting from Neil,
who went on to win the frame. Andy Kendrick potted too well
for Mick Egan, but the next frame was a cracker, with Dale
Blagborough taking the lead with a 24 break, and then Mick
Hughes making a 38 break tot register this division’s
highest break so far. Dale replied with another break of 21,
and finally overcame Mick to win this frame. Graham Darrell
had a tricky frame with Phil Bufton, but managed to win this
one to set up a decider between Alan Turner and Aaron O’Donnell.
Aaron started very well until Alan clicked into gear, and
went on to win this to put the team joint top with Min Fats
A.
Bayley B are third place after they visited the LDS C team.
Although Joe Rixom lost the first frame to Bayley player,
Tom Mulholland, John Calvert came back strongly against Kev
West to even the scores. Dan Oliver put Bayley back into the
lead beating Pete Randall, but the next two frames went to
LDS C, Gary Walls beat Craig Baugh, and in the last frame,
a close one, Richard Bedall lost out to Carl Kesterton.
Maddocks D were home to LDS G, who are on level points with
Coddon C, and their counterparts mentioned in the previous
report. Maddocks started well with Graham Arnold getting the
better of D. Levenue, but Rob Withington took the next for
the Dawley side with a close win over Roy Lowe. Ian Courtney
for Maddocks came up against new signing, Stu Ross. Stu had
an easy victory over Ian to put Dawley 2-1 in front. Cheryl
Caswell then stepped up to play Roy Levenue, and this match
went one way, with an emphatic win for Roy. Fred Spragg managed
to get a second point for the Maddocks side with his win over
Tommy Bell.
Third Division
Hadley B stormed to a 5-0 win when they played Bayley D
at the Bayley club. The Bayley side won’t suffer two
many results like that in this division, although this match
might get them used too first division snooker should they
ever get there! There were no close games in this match, and
the Hadley side are now five points clear at the top of this
division.
LDS B are next in the table even though suffering a 4-2 defeat
at the hands of local rivals Dawley C. Chris Gifford gave
the Dawley C team an early lead with a win over Chris Lawson.
Luke Edwards increased that when he played Andrew Clarke.
Richie Heighway temporarily stopped the flow after defeating
Neil Davis. Sean Cross started the winning sequence up again
in his frame with Colin Gittus, and thereby making it 3-1
to LDS C. The last frame saw Andy Shaw get the fourth point
of the evening against Mark Randall.
Anstice B are still knocking on the door with their bid for
promotion, and they gained a hard fought win when they met
visitors, Newport B. Mick Cahill got the home side off to
a good start defeating Allan Davies, but Matt Revitt pulled
the next one back for Newport when he played John Darrock.
It was the ever steady Noel Stones who put the home side back
in front with a good win over Richard Goldie. George Hammond
went the same way as his team mate John, and lost to Steve
Speake. This set up a deciding frame between Billy Watson
and John Yapp. It was Billy who gained the spoils and gave
the Anstice side a 3-2 victory.
Coddon B reduced the gap between them selves and their adversaries
this week, as they gained a 4-1 win when they were drawn at
home to Shifnal D. Roger Lewis stated the ball rolling for
the Coddon side, but he came unstuck against Terrie Askew
who ran out an easy winner. In the next frame, Dave Lloyd
Jnr. just pipped Sanjay Chahuan, 57-50 to level the scores.
Mark Ebdon had an easy win over Pete Wharton, but the next
frame was not so cut and dried. Mokesh Mehmi played campaigner,
Arthur Aston, and this result, in a high scoring game went
to Mokesh 65-52. Brian McMillan took the fourth point for
Coddon with a comfortable victory over George French.
Allscott, the new team in this division this season, are
doing well, and I do hope they are enjoying the experience
of league snooker. This week, Allscott were pitched against
Bayley Q, and in the opening frame Dave Finney put the first
point on the board for Allscott when he beat Rob Cook. Steve
Powell and a wonderful 47 break in his frame with Lee Newton
to put his side 2-0 up. Nick Gwynne made it 3-0 for the team
beating Steve Weatherall. Things were looking good for the
beet factory lads, but that stopped when Chris Bates, for
Bayley came to the table, and disposed of Kev Welland. Having
played Kev myself, this was a great win for Chris, Kev being
such a good potter! Although a close frame in the last, it
was Chris Durham who made the score line respectable with
a last frame win over Carl Starling.
Hadley A have produced some great form this season, are they
drinking more? Only joking, but this week, once again they
produced the goods with a 3-2 win over the Second Club Trench
B side, who are rooted at the bottom presently. “Tugboat”,
Richard Benting lost the first frame for the home side with
a defeat from Nick Holmes. Roy Francis came back for Hadley
with a nice win over Alan Kynaston, with Tony Morgan making
it 2-1 when he played Chris Coterill. Al Francis didn’t
fare so well with Keith Mears, with Keith winning and setting
up a decider between Iain Atkinson and Roger Smith. Iain rose
to the occasion and gave his team mates the home win that
puts them at halfway in the table, keep it going lads.
I have been asked to cut down the report for the paper, after
all the efforts of folk to get a report back in there! That
means writing two reports instead of one. No problem, but
what a great help from those are making an effort to send
me a report each week. It is so much better than my guess
work from a card. The web report will have to be a little
later than usual, but on the other hand, it will also mean
that more cards are in before Saturday dinnertime, when my
last post arrives.
