Team Knockout
Maddocks C v Audco C; In this weeks cup match Maddocks C
entertained Audco C in what proved to be a very close encounter
. In the 1st frame Dave Berry for Audco played very well in
defeating Steve Hassack by 83-48 to add to what was already
a very generous 30 points handicap start. Darren Wilkie up
next for the home team had a good lead until John Williams
recovered towards the end of the frame and increased Audco's
lead by another 3 points. This left the home team trailing
by 68 points overall but in the next frame Mick Wincott played
extremely well against Andy Heathcote, winning the frame by
75-33 to reduce the deficit to 26 points. In the next frame
against Roger Lewis, Joe Oliver took a 35 point lead but after
an unfortunate in-off when getting out of a snooker Roger
got back in to the frame and eventually won 62-48, leaving
anchor man Ian Cleary with the task of pulling back 40 points
in the final game. Playing against Paul Proctor Ian put in
a tremendous effort and it looked like he was going to do
it when he was 35 points up with green to black left on. However
, in a very close finish , after Ian missed a snooker on the
green Paul was very relieved when he potted the deciding balls
, and although losing the frame 64-48 , the Audco team ran
out winners by 24 points in the end , effectively having taken
advantage of their 30 points handicap (report courtesy of
Joe Oliver), Shifnal B V Bayley F, the cup holders Shifnal
B had to pull back 85 on the handicap against a side who are
clear at the top of division two, frame 1 saw Matt Davies,
who has already compiled a 131 and 133 break already this
season, start against an in form A Kendrick, and there was
plenty of safety played in the early exchanges, then when
Andy escaped out of a tricky snooker, but Matt spied a plant
in the pack, even then with a few reds on the cushion, we
couldn’t of expected what was to happen next, as he
was compiling a lovely break and on 64 he slotted in a great
black and brought 3 other reds into play, eventually clearing
the table with a magnificent 120 break winning 129-0 to put
the home side up, in the next young Aaron Sparkes faced the
Wiley Mick Hughes, with the home player starting well, Mick
trying desperately to get back into the frame, but another
41 break put Aaron and the home side well ahead on the handicap
99-12, frame 3 John Fallows faced G Darrall, with John knocking
in 64 break, following on from his superb 68 last week, Graham
tried in vain to get into the frame, but John showed no mercy
as he cleared with a 35 break to win 127-14, astonishingly
putting the home side 244 points up after 3 frames, last two
frames saw L Knox beat P Whitby 55-46 and A Way beat A Turner
78-26, Anstice (25) A v Lds B (175), K Price started things
off for the home side, with another good potting display,

the next saw I Duffy carry on in the same vein for the home
side with some great safety and potting combinations to overcome
R Heighway 88-37, a return for a league veteran in the next
as S Harris faced M Randall, with both players potting well,
but Shaun pulled showed some of his old form to take the frame
75-34, frame 4 saw N Price playing C Gittus and Neil put the
home side firmly in the driving seat with a superb potting
display taking the frame 86-15 putting them 53 up on the handicap
and in the last S Yeats played S Drake, and it was a superb
performance from the away player, playing some great snooker,
but Simon held his nerve and even though he lost the frame
33-66, Anstice still went through. Broseley (40) v Hadley
B (130), with Hadley going well in Div 3, this was going to
be tough for the home side, S McLeod started things off for
the home side with a close fought opener 59-43 against K Whitehead,
frame 2 was G Long v D Smout which turned out to be another
tight encounter 54-41, and frame 3 saw much the same tight
play between N Caswell and J Wright, with Neil knocking some
great pots, and John responding with his own, final frame
score 70-66, in the 4th M Brezwyn played another in form player
K Booty, with both players matching each other pot for pot,
Mick narrowly winning 55-49, leaving J Banks needing to pull
back 42 in the last, well capable of a player of his stature,
but Darren Pountney had other ideas and helped put his side
through to the semi-finals in the narrowest of defeats 62-61.
Consolation Cup
Bayley A v Shifnal A; with the home side conceding 75 on
the handicap, things did not start too well, as M Hodson faced

which Maxwell failed to claw back, eventually losing 47-75,
it was A Burrows up next taking on R Davies, with Richard
knocking in a nice 31 break to secure the frame 81-27, things
continued well for the Shifnal Lads as they took the next

over C M Adams, well done Mark, Steve Fletcher was left an
impossible task in the last, but took the frame 67-46 against

this league; 2ND Club Trench A (145) v Bayley B (115); things
didn’t start well for the home side with the league
Chairman I Ferriday losing to an in form T Mullholland 57-39,
C Baugh took the next for the away team 60-31 against B Lane,
and it continued to get worse in the next two frames as the

further losses for P Crooks And T Welsh losing 44-45 and 41-56
to K West and D Oliver respectively, leaving D Welsh 33 behind
in the last, he started off well, but D Bedall responded brilliantly
and cleared the remaining colours to put his side through
to the semi-finals Bayley D v Newport; the home side had to
concede 20pts on the handicap and their captain Dave Dudley
set his team off to a great start, with some fantastic pots
and some superb safety, eventually beating A Davies 80-28,
but Colin Farge for Newport responded well against M Beddall,
with some good pots of his own taking the frame 80-53, then
it was the turn of the home side again as Dave Williams played
R Goldie, with Dave playing some great safety to restrict
Rich Goldie to few chances, taking the frame 89-20, frame
4 went the same way as Craig Whitehead put in another sparkling
performance this season, knocking in some great long shots,
Steve Speake tried in vain to keep the scores close, but Craig
cleared the remaining colours to win 98-32, putting his side
140 up on the night, a tough ask for Les Stirling in the last
against Jim Lewis, this turned out to be a tight affair, with
Les winning 51-42. Dawley C(180) v Allscott(210), C Gifford
got things going for the home team, pulling back 19 on the
handicap 64-45 against L Harris, J Allen and J Mills had a
tight match, both players potted well, but it was the a win
for the away side 43-41, the next proved just as close with
L Edwards narrowly beating S Powell 47-44, the turning point
was in the next frame, with S Cross following up his good
league form with some fantastic pots including a 28 break
against an unlucky K Welland, Sean winning 79-18 putting his
side 51 up going into the last, D Finney put a brilliant performance
for the away side, and despite a great win 61-47 against the
John Bethel Semi-finalist A Shaw, it wasn’t enough to
see his side through.
Under Twenty Ones
C Baugh v L Goodman: the was an evenly contested Semi-final,
both lads played well but it was C Baugh who went through
to the final 51-22, 50-40 and 46-27, T Maxfield v T Mullholland;
1st frame; Tom Mullholland broke and after a short exchange
of safety Tom Maxfield got into his stride and had a 53 break,
he controlled the frame to win 70-2, the next was a very tight
affair and Tom Mullholland had a good chance to take it, but
when he missed the yellow Tom Maxfield cleared them to win
69-36 in the 3rd and what was to be the final frame, Tom Maxfield
compiled a total clearance of 130, consisting of some fantastic
