Three teams on eight points each this week, Anstice A being
one of those teams, and they had a good 4-1 win at home the
Little Dawley A side. Although Lee Elcock struck the first
blow for the little Dawley side that was the only point taken
from Anstice, although two of the other games were very close.
Sean Nolan was in fine form against Darren Weston and quickly
put Dawley 1-0 up away to Minnesota Fats, Keith Price was
quick to square the home team up with an impressive win against
Joe Pugh, Ian Duffy then made it 2-1 by beating L Goodall,
Simon Yeates ensured the win went to Minnesota Fats B with
a solid performance against L Goodall and finally Daz Pountney
dusted his cue off to make it 4-1 to Minnesota Fats B beating
Mark Jones.

After their excellent start to the season with a convincing
win over last years champions, Shifnal B visited Maddocks
C and found themselves involved in a very close match. Kevin
Uzzell was fortunate to take the first frame for the visitors
when Maddocks newcomer Darren Wilkie was very unlucky to go
in off after potting the "winning" black. This was
after fighting his way back into the game after Kevin slotted
in a nice 29 break. Frame Score 56-44. The second frame matched
home player Darren Wincott with Matt Davies and after a very
close fought contest Darren left Matt a chance and he duly
took the frame 49-28. In the next game Steve Hassack showed
some of his old sparkle and took an early lead against John
Fallows. John then fought back and looked like taking the
frame until a mistake on the pink left Steve the chance to
pot both balls and win the frame 65-53. Big hitters Joe Oliver
and Lindsay Knox were next up with Joe starting very well
with a 20 , only to lose his way and let Lindsay back in the
game, but then recovering to take blue, an excellent pink,
and fluking the black to make up for Darren's earlier misfortune,
and take the match into a deciding frame. Shifnal's Angus
Way played another newcomer, Ian Cleary who unfortunately
never really got a shot, as Angus played excellent with breaks
of 34 and 32 to take the frame 74-2 and the match for Shifnal
B 3-2.

Coddon C were at home to the Bayley club and are having a
tough start to the season. In the opening frame Daniel Ballard
found Chris Morgan-Adams in fine form, having breaks of 33
and 23 to take the first frame for Bayley A. The next game
between Garry Owen and Steve Nichols was a close call with
Garry pinching it 57-50. That turned out to be the only frame
win for Coddon. In the last frame Steve Fletcher also had
a 32 and a 28 to beat young Mark Tusel 93-12.
Last years champions, Broseley, are having one of their worst
starts to a season, with another loss this week to Maddocks
A. Broseley were entertaining Maddocks at their own club,
and lost this encounter 4-1. The only player showing any form
was Mick Brezwyn who knocked in a 59 against the returning
Simon Biddulph to the Maddocks fold
Second Division
Little Dawley G have made a good start, and this week they
were at home to the Bayley D side who were playing their first
match of the season. The Bayley side had to wait until the
final frame to collect their point, with Darren Rhodes beating
Tommy Bell 58-42.
Dawley B went two up in their match with Minnesota Fats A,
with Grant Heighway having a 29 in his win over Mick Pearson.
Neil Pearson pulled one back in the third frame when he beat
Don Pugh 49-20. Barry Roden then secured the match beating
Mick Egan before Phil Bufton made it 3-2 with a win over Alex
Jones.
Bayley B, at home to the Second club A side were in good
form as they took this match 4-1. Craig Baugh had a good win
over Ian Ferriday to get the ball rolling, with Dave Stokes
taking the second. Paul Crooks gained a victory against Dickie
Oliver to make it 2-1, but then Dan Oliver and Kevin West
added the last two points for the 4-1 win.
Shifnal F were at home to Maddocks B and the home side won
this match 3-2. Not without a fight it seems, as Wally Harper
took the first frame beating John Briscoe 62-24, and then
Les Hicks, still playing some good stuff added the second
point against Rob Wright in a tight finish to the frame 54-44.
The opening assault from the Maddocks boys stopped there however,
as Shifnal hit back taking the three remaining frames to gain
the overall victory.
Third Division
Little Dawley C played the Anstice B side this week, at
Little Dawley, and in the first frame Pete Randal for the
home side was on the end of some good snooker from Noel Stones
who had a 30 break against him, and ran out the winner 76-7.
Although the next frame was a closer affair with Scott Bevan
getting the better of Stew Wimbush 54-44 the Anstice team
never made anymore headway, and the Little Dawley side went
on to win 4-1.
Maddocks D, after a clean sweep last week were at home to
Little Dawley D and started very well and with perhaps another
5-0 on the cards. Ian Courtney had a 27 break in his frame
with Danny Bedworth followed by Roy Lowe and Ken Davies making
it 3-0. Little Dawley though had other ideas and Scott Shaw
and Luke Edwards pulled two points back for the Maddocks side.
Newport A visited the Second club B side and will be well
pleased with their 4-1 victory away from home. The Newport
side raced into a 4-0 start until R. Smith took the last frame
from Paul Stokes to get their solitary point.
Shifnal D played Hadley, at Shifnal, and according to the
score card the result was 4-1 to Hadley, although in the score
frames it was 3-2 to Hadley! I’m sure someone will explain
the new scoring system to me?
Bayley Q had their first match of the season, and got off
to a good start with a 3-2 win over little Dawley B. Dan Soltys
won the first for Little Dawley, with Chris Fletcher levelling
the score. The Dawley side took the lead again with Colin
Gittus beating Steve Weatherall, only to see Richard Tranter
take the next frame to set up a decider. Chris Durham continued
last seasons brilliant from to beat newcomer Ginette Gittus
74-44 to take the final frame and match 3-2.
My thanks to the folks who take the time to send their reports
to me.
