Minnesota Fats B kept their momentum going this week as
they met the Maddocks C team at the Minnesota club. Minnesota
B recorded a 5-0 victory quite comfortably on the evening,
with Darren Weston returning to the fold and having a great
clearance of 65 in his frame with Sean Hassack. That score
line 106-22 to Darren.
Anstice A are keeping their good run going and also had a
5-0 win when they were away to the Coddon C team. There were
breaks of 21 and 23 from Neil Price in his match with Mick
Stokes and Neil won that frame 98-7. Nigel Wallcroft also
had a 33 break whilst beating Garry Owen 58-31.
Maddocks A were at home to Shifnal B, and this match went
to Shifnal B 3-2. Phil Davis could not contain the potting
and safety play of John Fallows and went down 85-16. Ian Eldridge
lost to Matt Davies, but then again most do! Ian Skelton playing
with a back injury was unlucky to miss the final black, which
his opponent, Aaron Sparkes took, to beat Ian by six points,
Aaron 58, Ian 52.Leigh France beat Angus Way 48-36, and in
the final frame, Dave France took some pressure balls to leave
the final score as reported, 3-2.
First frame saw young Liam Goodman up against Lee Elcock.
Liam took an early lead and looked in good shape but Lee came
back well and with the colours remaining score was level 32
all. Lee then had two bits of good fortune when he fluked
the yellow and green in consecutive shots and then cleared
to pink to win the frame 52-32. Second frame saw Rick "I've
been away but I'm back" Bailey playing Phil Cottey. Rick
used all his guile and experience to claw out a victory 52-27
to bring the match all square. In the third frame Mark Jones
came up against the evergreen Jesse Lowe. Mark forged ahead
in this frame with the aid of a 25 break. He kept the frame
tight after that and went on to win the frame 69-25 to put
Dawley 2-1 up.
Fourth frame saw an out of sorts Pete Nolan play Stu Russell.
Stu took an early lead and never looked in trouble after that
as Pete struggled to find the form he has showed of late.
Stu ran out an easy winner 79-33. Final and deciding frame
saw Sean Nolan up against Ade Henry. Ade started in his usual
fashion by thumping in an excellent long red and taking an
early lead. However Sean was in no mood to see his side lose
at home and with some excellent snooker of his own went on
to win comprehensively 80-22 to win the match 3-2 for Dawley.
Good night for Sean as he had raced back from Shrewsbury where
he won his match frame in the Shrewsbury league 98-3 !!

Mid table Broseley gained a 4-1 win over Bayley E side, who
were a player short on the evening. Neil Caswell had a nice
42 break in his frame with Ali Jones to win 53-22, but even
with the four one win, Broseley can forget their title challenge
for this season it seems!
The Bayley A side were at home to Coddon A and the Bayley
side won this match 3-2. The Coddon side are doing better
than their counterparts, Coddon C, and it looks like it may
be a close relegation battle between any of the bottom six
teams, but lots of games to play yet!.
Second Division
Little Dawley G played hosts to the Audco C team this week
and this match was a 4-1 win the Little Dawley team. Audco
C seemed to be cruising at the start of the season, but with
a couple of 4-1 losses things change very suddenly. The score
lines in this match were actually very close and it wasn’t
until the last frame of the match that Audco gained their
solitary point of the evening. John Williams was the winner
for the Audco side beating G. Clement 52-38.
Shifnal F will be pleased with their 4-1 win over the Bayley
B side. Shifnal, who were home, took the first two frames
before Dan Oliver, who is playing very well at the moment,
beat Fred Harper 74-50. Shifnal then replied by taking the
final two frames via Roy Martin and Chris Petford.
Bayley F played at home this week against the Second Club
A side, and this match went to the Trench side 3-2. Phil Whitby
and Graham Darrell won for the home side, but yet another
poor result for the Bayley men who are second from bottom.
A good finish from Mike Thompson who beat Alan Turner with
a fine shot to take the final black to win his frame.
Maddocks B lost their home match with Shifnal a 3-2 in a
very closely contested match. The match was decided in the
final frame, and in a high scoring game Steve Jones from Shifnal
beat Roy Adams 70-59.
Third Division
Maddocks D, still with a nice lead at the top of the table
went to the Little Dawley club to play their C team. The Maddocks
side lost 3-2 to their opponents. Maddocks lost the first
two frames but managed to take the third frame courtesy of
Cheryl Caswell beating John Calvert 57-32. Cheryl has only
lost once so far this campaign. With the match at 3-1, Fred
Spragg then took the last frame to add respectability to the
overall score. Fred beat Carl Kesterton 49-23. That result
leaves the top two positions as per. But a valuable point
gained for the Little Dawley side.
Shifnal D failed to take advantage of the aforementioned
result, although with the home advantage when they played
Newport B. This match see sawed until the end, when another
deciding frame had to be played. Campaigner Les Stirling made
no mistake for Newport when he won the last frame 5-20 playing
Barrie Easthope.
Hadley A were at home to Little Dawley D, and the Little
Dawley side took all five points. Kevin Whitehead lost to
Sean Cross who had a 22 break during the match, that score
59-42 to Sean. The next frame was very close with another
one of Hadley’s strongest players, Ken Booty, going
down to Luke Edwards. There was no respite to be had as Little
Dawley D took the next three frames with ease.
Anstice B are putting some good results together now, and
this week saw the Anstice take all five points from the Little
Dawley B side. So five up for the D team and five down for
the B team. Anstice were in total command and it was only
in the last frame where they might have conceded a point,
but it turned out another win when Billy Watson got the better
of Dan Soltys 44-38.
