Little Dawley G keep their fine run going, and although
away from home this week to Dawley B, came back with four
of the five points on offer. Rob Withington took the first
frame from Ian Ward, 51-16, followed by Graham Wiley with
a break of 27 during his frame with Kev Jones, and winning
the frame 67-32. The match continued with Tommy Bell and Roy
Levenue beating Grant Heighway and Barry Roden to make it
4-0. Alex Jones got a consolation point with his victory over
G. Clements.
Audco C found wining ways again, and they played Shifnal
at Audco. Colin Pink lost to Rob Wright of Shifnal, but Anthony
Heathcote squared the match by beating Chris Painter. P. Proctor
then gained the advantage for Audco beating Dave Peplow in
a close fought game. Andy Lycett made it 3-1 beating John
Briscoe, and in the final frame Chris Petford got the second
point for Shifnal, but only just! that score Chris 48 and
Roger Lewis 45. With Dawley B losing 4-1 this result gets
Shifnal F a little closer at the top of the division with
Audco pecking at their heels.
Minnesota Fats A had the Bayley F side visit them, and they
won this match 3-2. Mick Pearson defeated Richard Jaggs, but
then Mick Hughes in a highly entertaining potting frame with
Mick Egan levelled the scores. Neil Pearson with some more
fine potting, and a 24 break beat Andy Kendrick to make it
2-1. Kirk Stevens and Alan Turner played an open type of frame
with Kirk outpotting Alan to win his frame. In the final frame
Graham Darrell played a solid frame of snooker to beat Phil
Bufton.
Bayley B were at home to the Maddocks B side and this game
went to the wire with the Bayley side winning 3-2. C. Baugh
took the opener 56-21 playing Wally Harper for Bayley, with
Doug Morrey for Maddocks taking the second frame, 71-25 against
D. Stokes. Les Hicks made it 2-1 for Maddocks beating K. McLeod,
before Dan Oliver continued his winning ways by defeating
John Archer. That frame set up the decider with K. West gaining
a comfortable win over Roy Adams.
First Division
Minnesota Fats B, away to their nearest challengers, Anstice
A this week, won this match 4-1, and with a strengthened squad
look to have their name on the title for this division already.
Keith Price had a magnificent 89 when he played Steve Camp
and administered the brush on Steve. Keith’s brother,
Neil, playing for the opposition evened the score by beating
Darren Weston, but the following three frames all went to
Minnesota B comfortably. Craig Reynolds beat Nigel Wallcroft
65-17, with Ian Duffy following suit to win by 55-28 against
Laki Badhan. The final frame was slightly closer with Simon
Yeates getting the better of Keith Blackham 53-32.
No card from Shifnal B again this week, so the table shows
Little Dawley A in third position. Little Dawley A were at
home to the Bayley A side and took this match 4-1. The Little
Dawley side went into a 3-0 lead, until Steve Fletcher for
the Bayley side, stopped that run by beating Stu Russell in
a closely fought contest, the outcome, 60-51 to Steve. The
final frame was also close, but this also went to the Dawley
side with Ade Henry beating Chris Morgan-Adams 46-41.
Bayley E on level points with Coddon C at the bottom end
of the table, were visited by the Maddocks A side. This match
ended with a 3-2 win for the Maddocks side. Leigh France took
the first frame from Andy Obrien, with Ian Skelton adding
the second for Maddocks playing D. Beyer. Ian Eldridge took
the third frame against Ali Jones, but then the Bayley E side
replied with John Squire beating Dave France and finally Bayleys
namesake, Dave France won the last frame 50-24 playing Phil
Davis.
Maddocks C were at home to the Broseley team this week, and
lost this match 3-2. Steve Hassack got the Maddocks side off
to a winning start when he beat Carl Walker 68-39. Broseley
levelled with Simon McLeod beating Darren Wincott 71-39. Darren
Wilkie put in a fine performance in the next frame for Maddocks,
with breaks of 24 and 38 as he defeated Neil Caswell. John
Banks took the match to a decider with his victory over Joe
Oliver, and in the final frame Mick Brezwyn clinched the match
with a 68-35 win over Graham Hoof.
In the local derby match between Coddon A and Coddon C, Coddon
A came out on top 3-2. This leaves Coddon C rooted at the
foot of the table, still waiting for their first match win.
Daniel Ballard gained the first advantage for Coddon C when
he beat Nick Pearce. Steve Downes hit back for the Coddon
A lads and then Tony Garmson beat Mark Tusel 60-28. The next
frame saw the match score levelled with Frasier Mackinnon
beating Mark Wall. In a very close match, it wasn’t
to be for the Coddon C team as Andy Jones just got the better
of Matt Bothwell 60-points to 50.
Third Division
Maddocks D, still top of this division, found the Shifnal
side in good form when Shifnal visited them this week, and
won the match 3-2. Terry Askew started with a win over Fred
Spragg with team mate Sanjay Chauhan adding a second frame.
Graham Arnold stopped the rot beating Peter Wharton, but then
Arthur Aston got the third point for Shifnal when he beat
Cheryl Caswell. In the last frame Ian Courtney had an easy
victory over Geoff French 64-16.
Bayley Q at home to Little Dawley C found some serious opposition
as the Little Dawley side went into a 3-0 lead. Richard Tranter
stepped up in the fourth frame and took the first point of
the evening for Bayley with a close win over Pete Randall
54-44. Chris Durham did his best to try to get another point
for the Bayley lads but lost out to Carl Kesterton 62-48.
Little Dawley D were at home to the Anstice B side, who are
mounting a strong challenge to the leaders of this division.
Anstice took this match 5-0 although in the fourth frame of
this match Sean Cross for Little Dawley was narrowly defeated
by George Hammond 47-43 and in a close last frame Billy Watson
beat Luke Edwards 68-53.
Newport A, with a game in hand have everything to play for,
and in their match away to the Little Dawley B side won this
match 4-1. Although Colin Gittus for the home side took the
first frame when he beat Geoff Groucott, that was to be the
only point for the Little Dawley side. C, Hughes beat Ginette
Gittus 58-16 followed by Andy Yates getting the better of
Andrew Clarke 66-40. Pete Smith added the next defeating Pete
Clarke and in the last frame Alex Turnbull took the last frame
51-20 from Dan Soltys.
