Minnesota Fats made the difficult trip this week to Little
Dawley without the in form Keith Price and did not get off
to the best of starts when an out of sorts Craig Reynolds
was defeated by Lee Elcock. However this was to prove the
last frame for LDS as Ian Duffy squared things up against
Phil Cottey followed by a convincing display from Darren Weston
(46 break) against Jesse Lowe to put Minnesota Fats 2-1 up,
Darren Pountney then finished the match off to make it 10
wins from 10 for the Minnesota Fats lads against old team-mate
Stu Russell. Simon Yeates wrapped things up against Ade Henry
in the last to make it 4-1.

Anstice A continue their good run with another 5-0 win at
home to Mattocks C. This is their third 5-0 win out of the
last four matches, the only loss being to current leaders,
Minnesota B. The latest win started with Laki Badhan beating
the useful Darren Wincott 66-35, and the start of this winning
streak never faltered, with Steve Camp taking a comfortable
victory over Darren Willkie. Neil Price had a tougher frame
with Joe Oliver, but recorded a 64-52 win over Joe. The next
frame was very close with Nigel Wallcroft just getting the
better of Steve Hassack 44-41. Keith Blackham made it the
straight five with a win over Graham Hoof. So, 5-0, but a
close match indeed!
Shifnal B had a 4-1 win over the struggling Coddon C team,
and with Kevin Uzzels fine start in the first frame with Mick
Stokes, where Kevin knocked in a fine 49 break, the result
between near top of the table and bottom of the table may
have been somewhat expected. However, the Coddon side did
get a point in the fourth frame when Garry Owen beat John
Fallows 63-51. A good win for Garry. Angus Way took the last
frame 63-35 against Matt Bothwell and it may be a long season
for the Coddon C lads.
Maddocks A took on the Bayley A side at Maddocks, and this
match was a 4-1 result to Maddocks A. Simon Biddulph made
a welcome return to Maddocks and got them off to a winning
start, when he beat Steve Nichols in a close frame 55-42.
Steve Fletcher then beat the in form Ian Eldridge, who has
been playing well of late, to level the match. Ian Skelton
then took a frame from Bob Mason, but in the next frame both
players gave the teams a frame to appreciate. Phil Davis had
a 37 break, whilst his opponent Spencer Rowley made a 40 break.
The final score of this frame was 57-56 to Phil. The last
frame started with both players vying for the lead throughout
the frame, but in the end it was Leigh France who pulled away
to beat Chris Morgan- Adams 60-33 and make it 4-1 to Maddocks
C.
Bayley E were at home to Dawley A, but lost this match 3-2.
Andy Obrien won the first frame against Sean Nolan, with Mark
Jones restoring the balance by beating D. Beyers. Ali Jones
then beat Rick Bailey to make it 2-1, before Pete Nolan levelled
again defeating Dave France. The decider saw Liam Goodman
beat John Squire to win the match 3-2.
Second Division
Minnesota A were at home to Little Dawley G this week, and
beat the current leaders 3-2. This was Little Dawleys’
second 3-2 loss on the reel. Kirk Stevens had a fine win over
Roy Levenue 56-9 making a 24 break during the game. G. Clements
made it 1-1 beating Mick Pearson, and then in a close frame,
Neil Pearson got the better of Graham Copson to put Minnesota
2-1 up. Mick Egan, also with a narrow win over Tommy Bell,
secured the match win, but in the last frame, Graham Wiley
had a comfortable win over Phil Bufton to make the final score
line 3-2 to the Oakengates club.
Dawley B entertained Audco C, and in a close match the Dawley
side produced a 3-2 win. Grant Heighway took the first for
Dawley, by beating Anthony Heathcote, but, new signing, M.
Beech replied for Audco taking the frame from Kev Jones. Ali
Ragonessi, who doesn’t get a lot of time to play snooker,
made an appearance but lost to Paul Proctor. In a high scoring
frame Barry Roden beat John Williams 71-60 to set up the match
decider between Alex Jones and Roger Lewis. The frame could
not have been closer with Alex scoring 48 and Roger 47. This
result leaves Audco just one point behind Dawley B in third
spot, so everything to play for!
Maddocks B were at home the Bayley F side this week, where
old acquaintances were renewed. Bayley F, who originated from
the old snooker hall in Wellington, had a good night at Maddocks,
and nice to see some of our mentors still playing snooker.
Wally Harper won the first frame playing Richard Jags, with
Les Hicks stepping up to play Mick Hughes. This one went to
Mick, and with the scores level Doug Morrey took on Graham
Darrell. Graham playing well at the moment, won this frame
60-18. In the next frame Andy Kendrick was drawn against Roy
Adams, and Andy ran out a comfortable winner. Last but not
least Steve Pritchard played Alan Turner who couldn’t
seem to miss for a change, and Alan won the frame to make
it 4-1 to Bayley F.
Third Division
Little Dawley C, now on level games with leaders Maddocks
D, are joint second in this division after this match, and
in a local derby match with their B side, they came out victors
with a 3-2 score line. Scott Bevan won the first against Dan
Soltys, 60-23 with Colin Gittus, still in good form taking
the second frame, beating Carl Kesterton. With the narrowest
of margins, John Calvert beat Andy Clarke 51-50. The fourth
frame saw Mark Randall set up a decider after he won his frame
playing Pete Randall 66-29. In the last frame Sam Hamilton
did the honours for the C team winning the match by beating
Pete Clarke.
Hadley A have taken on a new lease of life lately and this
weeks result was a fine win over the Newport Legion played
at Hadley. P. Smout had a 28 break in the first frame as he
beat Chris Hughes, with Kevin Whitehead making it 2-0, and
also having a break, this time a 36. Ken Booty scraped in
with the third frame for Hadley by a margin of three points,
44-41 against Colin Farge. Allen Francis lost the next frame
to legion player, Andy Yates who had a 22 break, and in the
final frame Iain Atkinson will have enjoyed his first frame
win for a month beating Pete Smith.
Newport B were visited by the Anstice B side who are maintaining
their bid for promotion, and share joint second spot. A. Davies
got Newport off to the first win of the evening, just beating
Stew Wimbush 53-40. Team mate Richard Goldie then lost to
Mick Cahill of Anstice, before Billy Watson won another close
frame, this time 46-44 playing M. Revitt. Noel Stones secured
the win for Anstice, Noel 52, S. Speake 22. In the last frame
Les Stirling, in fine form at the moment defeated George Hammond
64-37.
