Three matches over now, and Audco A are top of the first
division. A 3-2 win over the Bayley E side at the Audco club,
helped them to maintain their position. Much needed start,
as I’m sure it will get harder as the season goes on!
This week saw a "local derby" between home side
Maddock's A against away side Maddock's C. Following his excellent
win last week Mick Wincott came right back down to earth with
a bump when he was hardly given a shot against Ian Eldridge
who potted very well to take the 1st frame for the A side
63-6. Next up, new signing for the A side Simon Biddulph was
matched against an in form Darren Wincott, and following several
snookers behind the brown ball to which Simon commented, "can
you snooker me behind the yellow ball for a change”
Darren took the frame 53-29. Ian Skelton then played Joe Oliver
in a game which was full of mistakes and with the scores on
35 each, Ian cleared yellow to pink to take the frame and
put the score at 2-1 to the A team. The match score was then
levelled at 2-2 in the next with Steve Hassack continuing
with his early season excellent snooker and with Phil Davies
still suffering from having refereed Ian and Joe's game Steve
took the frame 69-20. The final game decider was then between
Leigh France and ex captain of the C side Graham Hoof, and
it was Graham who maintained the C sides winning start to
the season by potting blue, pink and black and pinch the frame
61-55.

Shifnal B continued their winning ways when they visited Anstice
A and came away with a 3-2 win. Matt Davies had a 58 break,
and who knows, this could be the team challenging for honours
this season?
Minnesota B haven’t reached their usual performance
this season, and succumbed to the Dawley A side, at Dawley,
3-2. Lots of breaks in this match with Pete Nolan having a
31, and a 22 to beat S. Harris, Darren Weston with a 38, beating
Mark Jones, and Keith Price recording a 50 as he beat A. Nolan.
The Bayley A team were at home to LDS A, and suffered a 3-2
defeat to the Little Dawley club, who are having a reasonable
start to their season.
Second Division
Shifnal F top this division with a fine 4-1 win over the
Second Club B, a team who also has had a good start.
Dawley B met the Shifnal F side at Dawley where the Shifnal
side took the spoils 3-2.
Bayley B, although away to the Second Club A, inflicted a
3-2 win over the Trench side to remain in joint second place
with four other clubs in this division.
Bayley D are one of the above-mentioned teams, and they produced
a 3-2 win when they visited the Coddon C side.
Coddon A, in spite of losing 3-2 to LDS G, are also one of
the teams that appear in the top four of the division.
Third Division
Comrades had a good 5-0 result this week when they played
at their new venue and beat the visiting Maddocks B side.
Gaz Young made a 37 break in his win over Neil Warrender.
The two Newport teams, Newport Legion and the Audco C team
met at the Legion, and this match went 4-1 to the new Audco
side with Ant Heathcote losing to Richard Goldie 62-51.
Bayley Q also recorded a 4-1 victory over the Shifnal D side
at the Bayley club, Chris Fletcher knocking in a nice twenty
as he beat Arthur Aston 55-13. Chris Durham, Rob Cook, and
Chris Bates gained the other three of Bayley's four points.
In a closely fought contest between Hadley & Little Dawley
C, the latter came out winners 3-2, C.Soltys defeated Kev
Whitehead 62-42 in a cracking game, both players receiving
an ovation from the biggest "crowd" of the season!
Ken Booty then defeated C.Kesterton in another absorbing game
50-41, both players recording reasonable breaks of 24 &
23 respectively. Tugboat got the better of S. Bevan in another
closely fought game 48-39, to take a 2-1 advantage for Hadley,
however the match was lost as Gareth Hughes & Al Francis
both got beaten by G.Walls (22-43) & A. Garbett (37-48)
respectively, again, 2 very close games, all-in-all a contender
for match of the season! PS: Iain Atkinson was dropped
due to lack of form!

Anstice B took the short trip to Little Dawley and found the
opposition fighting back from three down to make a reasonable
result for themselves, 3-2.
