TELFORD SNOOKER LEAGUE

Match Report - 19th September 2007

Minnesota Fats B fared better in the second weeks snooker league, as they visited Bayley E and found winning form to take the match 4-1. Andy O' Brien was the only player to take a frame, and that from Ian Duffy 76-14.

Shifnal B produced a 4-1 win at home over Dawley A, with the highlight of the match being John Fallows break of 84, giving a score line of 84-0 against his opponent, Alex Nolan.

Broseley at home, had a fine 4-1 over the Maddocks A side, with two of their players recording 40 plus breaks, and Carl Walker with a 52. Dave France was the winner for Maddocks, beating John Banks 65-19.

The second week of the season saw Maddock's C play hosts to a very good Anstice A team and they again produced an excellence performance to take the match 4 games to 1. Mick Wincott played his first game of the season and with some excellent potting took the first frame against M.Musgrave 73-26. The second game saw Neil Price get off to flier with a nice 28 break against home man Steve Hassack, but Steve kept fighting back in a very close frame and eventually pinched it on the black ball after Neil had missed a couple of chances.

Next game saw Darren Wincott again leaving very little for his opponent Steve Camp and after building a commanding lead gave the home side a 3-0 lead, frame score 60-20. In the 4th frame Anstice got their first point of the night, Andy Elliot playing his usual solid game and running away with the game against Danny Bedworth by 62-15. Keith Blackham started the final frame very well and built a 20 point lead only for Joe Oliver to peg him back, play some good safety and eventually win the game on the blue ball 59-29, to finish with another great result for the newly promoted side.

Audco A continued their winning ways, as they beat the Bayley A side at the Audco club, 4-1. With Audco being short of players, two local lads were drafted in, Aled Jones losing to C.M. Adams, but Mick Benting put in a fine display to win his frame 80-35 against M. Hodson.

Bayley F saw the return of some of their regular players but only managed to take two points from the LDS A side at Little Dawley.

Second Division

Dawley B met the Shifnal F side at Dawley where the Shifnal side took the spoils 3-2.

Second Club B took on the promoted side Maddocks B, but even with home advantage the Second Club lost this match 3-2.

Bayley D had the Coddon A side visit them, but lost the match 3-2, with Craig Whitehead winning his second game in a row for the Bayley side.

Coddon C were at home to the Minnesota Fats A team, and the Coddon side took this match 3-2.

Bayley B won their match at home to LDS G with the deciding frame won by Kelvin McLeod, who beat Graham Wiley 60-49.

Third Division

Hadley visited Maddox D with a full squad this week & came away with a 3-2 victory. Ken Booty made a welcome return to the team with a hard fought win over Ken Davies 54 - 46, Kev Whitehead made his first appearance of the season winning his frame 64 - 40 against Roy Lowe. Tugboat then continued the trend with a 66 - 46 win over N.Warrender . Unfortunately it all went "pear shaped " from there, with Al Francis & Iain Atkinson both getting a whooping by Ian Courtney (67 -7) & Fred Spragg (70 - 28) respectively.

Shifnal D, at home to the LDS B side, secured a 3-2 win in this match after going two up before LDS came back to level the match. Barrie Easthope won the decider when he defeated Snowy Darrock 62-19.

Anstice B will try to go one better in this campaign after losing out on promotion last season. The 5-0 win over Comrades at Madeley will certainly boost their cause.

Audco B played the Bayley Q side at Newport and managed a 3-2 win over the Wellington lads.

The last match reported was between LDS C and the Newport Legion. This match at Little Dawley saw the Legion side gain a 3-2 victory.

Due to holidays I have been unable to get the reports out on time, so they will be of smaller content until I catch up. Please keep sending reports, they are a big help.
