We’re now into the fifth game of the season and
my report starts with the Anstice B who lead this division.
Anstice gained a fine 4-1 win over the Audco B side, at Audco
with Alex Turnbull grabbing the last frame from Stew Wimbush
to get the solitary point for the Newport lads.
Comrades also visited the Audco club where they produced
a 3-2 win over the newly entered Audco C side. Comrades took
the first three frames until J. Williams and A. Lycett pulled
two frames back for Audco.
In a local derby match at Little Dawley, the C team saw off
their counterparts. LDS B by four frames to one. Sam Hamilton
was the only winner for the B side and knocked in a twenty
break when he beat A. Garbett.
Bayley Q at home to Maddocks D, saw Chris Durham put in a
solid outing to win frame one, with Roy Lowe answering for
the visitors with a black ball victory in the next frame.
Fred Spragg put the visitors 2-1 up with some good potting.
Maddocks then drafted in Cheryl Caswell at the last minute
so that they didn’t have to give a frame away. Cheryl
was put to an early test as Steve Weatherall raced into an
early 21 lead. However Cheryl had all the answers and put
on a master class potting display including missing a fine
cut to give her a 25 point clearance. Cheryl won the frame
63-34 before Richard Tranter won a tactical battle to see
the finishing score line 3-2 to Maddocks.

Hadley continued their fine early season form with a resounding
4-1 win over Newport B. Kev Whitehead (fresh from his victory
in the Div 3 Individuals, last week) started the ball rolling
with a fine 27 break, beating Nigel Simpson 73 - 30. But the
best was yet to come, with Ken Booty compiling a magnificent
56 break to take the next match against the previously undefeated
Richard Goldie 72 -4. Tugboat then continued his fine start
to the season with a closely fought victory over Alan Davies
38 - 24. Al Francis then put the Hadley boys 4 - 0 up when
he defeated Steve Speake 64 - 35, however John Yapp pulled
a frame back for Newport against Iain Atkinson 63 -46, to
save his side from what would have been Hadley's 1st ever
whitewash.
Second Division
Coddon A were away to newly promoted Maddocks B this week
and the Coddon team were too strong for Maddocks, taking all
five points. Not without a struggle in the first frame however,
as Steve Pritchard put up a brave fight against Dave Lloyd
to lose by 70-59.
Minnesota Fats A played another local derby game with the
Min G side. This match went to the final frame which saw the
A side win the decider for a 3-2 win.
Coddon C lost their home match against the Second club B
side with Daniel Ballard having a 29 break in his win over
Bob Lane.
Second Club A were at home to the Little Dawley G side and
lots of high scoring frames in this match, but with the Second
Club A side gaining the match win, four frames to one.
Dawley B did themselves a power of good as they beat the
Bayley D side at Dawley. Paul Harper opened the match and
recorded a 37 break in his win over Jim Lewis.
First Division
League leaders Broseley A visited the Audco A side who returned
to the top flight this season. Andy Kendrick got the Audco
off to a good start by beating Carl Walker, having a 34 break
whilst doing so. Mick Hughes nearly made it two but a super
finish by Graeme Long from brown to black levelled the scores.
Mick Brezwyn was far too strong for Richard Jaggs but Alan
turner took the next frame from John Banks. Simon Thomas potted
well and played good safety game which never allowed Graham
Darrall off the mark, result, 3-2 to Broseley.
Shifnal B visited the Bayley F side and came away with a
good 4-1 win. Eddie Whitehead was the solitary winner for
the Bayley side. Tom Maxfield started well for the Bayley
side having a break of 31 but was still defeated but John
Fallows 58-48. Darren Wilkie also had a 24 break but lost
to Aaron Sparkes.
Maddocks A at home to Min B lost this match 3-2. Leigh France
had good chances playing Darren Weston but lost 67-30 in the
end. Phil Davies saw Shawn Harris make a 34 break on his way
to a 73-28 victory. Ian Skelton then drew one back with a
good display of snooker including a 35 break when playing
Ian Duffy. Keith price replied for Min B with breaks of 41
and 33 defeating Les Stirling 95-1. Finally Dave France, in
good form recently beat Simon Yeates 59-10.
Bayley E made the trip to Little Dawley A and came away with
an excellent 5-0.
Dawley A made the short trip to Anstice A and managed to
return with two points from the encounter.
