Champions Minnesota B, met newly promoted Audco A this
week at Oakengates and beat the Audco side quite comfortably.
Mick Hughes was the only player to have nearly grabbed a point
for the Audco side, but lost on the pink to Simon Yeats. This
win moves Minnesota B into second place.
Maddock's C excellent start to the season came off the rails
a little this week when they entertained the leaders Broseley
A. Previously undefeated Steve Hassack did not really get
into the frame when defeated by Carl Walker who played well
to take the first frame 62-14. Darren Wincott, also undefeated
up till now was next up against Simon McLeod and failed to
take his chances when losing 75-36. The next frame matched
Joe Oliver against Mick Brezwyn and after a fairly even start
to the frame, Mick "fluked" a red and then took
advantage in compiling an excellent 51 break to win 81-13.
In the 4th frame of the night Brendan Wincott played his first
game of the season , and with some superb potting managed
to pinch the frame by one point after his opponent John Banks
had potted a great blue and pink , but then left a very difficult
black , which he then left for Brendan to pot and rescue a
point . The final frame of the evening saw Simon Thomas up
against Graham Hoof and after a slow start Simon eventually
got into his stride and took the frame 60-17, and the match,
4-1 to Broseley A.
Bayley E will be well pleased with their performance after
the visit of Maddocks A to the Bayley club. The Bayley side
took four fames from this match and during the frame between
Ali Jones and Ian Eldridge, Ali made a great 85 break to beat
Ian 104-2. Phil Davis was the only winner for Maddocks defeating
Dave France.
Dawley A found a bit of form this week when they had the
Bayley A side visit them, and that match ended with victory
for the Dawley A team, 3-2. Alex Nolan recorded a 40 break
in his frame and later during the match Sean Nolan also knocked
in a 33.
There were two 34 breaks in the match between Anstice A and
the Bayley F team, one coming from Steve Camp for Anstice,
and the second from Eddie Whitehead from the Bayley side.
The end result was 3-2 to the Anstice side who had home advantage.
Second Division
Coddon A were at home to their C side and proved to be too
good on the night as they took this match 4-1, with Dave Lloyd
having a nice 36 break in his match with Daniel Ballard.
Maddocks B are doing well in this division, and they went
to the Bayley club where they played the D team and came away
with a 4-1 result. Dave Dudley was the only winner in the
match has he salvaged a point in the last frame of the evening.
The two teams at the top of this division met at the Trench
club this week and the Second club A side beat the Shifnal
F side 3-2.
Bayley B had the Dawley B team visit them this week, with
Dawley fielding a new but well known player back into snooker,
Craig Reynolds. Dawley B lost this match 4-1 and the winner
for them was in fact Craig Reynolds.
Little Dawley G were at home to Minnesota Fats A and the
Little Dawley side won this match 3-2. Graham Copson made
a 30 break as he beat Mick Pearson.
Third Division
Audco C, the new side in the third division have gone to
the top after a convincing win over their counterparts, Audco
B. Anthony Heathcote had a 22 break for the C side, and team-mate
Roger Lewis also had a 20 break. In the closest frame of the
night, Andy Yates for the B side took the only point beating
Andy Lycett 58-50.
Little Dawley C entertained the Shifnal D side and came up
against stiff competition in this match, with the Shifnal
side taking four of the five points to be had. Barrie Easthope
saved the whitewash by taking the last game from Peter Randall.
Maddocks D were at home to the Anstice B team and they lost
this match 3-2. Cheryl Caswell maintained her good form by
beating John Darrock in the opening frame.
Newport Legion, who haven’t had the best of starts
to the season, lost their home match 4-1 to the visiting Bayley
Q side. In a close frame the winner for Newport was Steve
Speke who beat Chris Fletcher. Chris Durham, Chris Bates,
Richard Tranter, and Steve Weatherall won the four games for
the Bayley team.
The Hadley A side are doing a lot better this season although
they recorded a 3-2 loss at the hands of the visiting Little
Dawley B side. New signing, Ken Booty retained his unbeaten
record when he won the opening frame, beating Tom Wotherspoon.
There was a good turn out to our monthly meeting last Thursday
when the first cue fee instalments were paid. Thanks to all
