No result in from Minnesota B this week, but with Broseley
losing 4-1 when they played second placed Shifnal B, it looks
like all three teams are still in the running. Shifnal went
three frames up courtesy of Aaron Sparkes beating Graeme Long,
John Fallows beating Simon Thomas, and then Matt Davies taking
the third over Simon McLeod. John Banks pulled one back when
he defeated Lindsay Knox but then Angus Way made it the 4-1
result, beating Mick Brezwyn 73-56.
Anstice A, are still in fourth place after a 3-2 win over
the visiting Bayley A team. Bayley A lost the first two frames,
but Steve Fletcher and Spencer Rowley set up a decider with
Steve beating Andy Elliot and Spencer winning against Steve
Camp. A close finish to the match with Maxwell Hodson losing
to Nigel Wallcroft 56-45. Bayley A are still in a relegation
battle, and in fact any of the bottom five teams could still
go down!
Maddocks C were away to the Bayley E side where once again
John Squire got the only win of the evening for the Bayley
E team. Darren Wincott secured the first frame 65-43 against
Andy O’Brien, then Joe Oliver had a comfortable victory
playing Ali Jones, that score, 85-19 to Joe. Dave France nearly
made it two for the Bayley lads, but lost 46-44 to Mick Wincott.
In the final frame Graham Hoof beat Steve Hoof 53-31.
Bayley F did not field a side this week which gave Maddocks
A all five points. There has been no word from the Bayley
F team as to whether they will complete their fixtures or
not?
Dawley A produced a 4-1 win against Audco A, which puts those
two teams on level points. Good result for the Dawley team
which means that both of these teams are not out of the woods
yet. Having said that, news of the impending closure of the
Audco club will put the future of the Audco teams in doubt.
Second Division
No result from the Coddon A side this week, but Coddon C
were away to little Dawley G and had a good 3-3 win away from
home. Jamie Morris took the opener beating Graham Wiley, then
Gary Owen made it 2-0 with a 54-53 point victory over G. Clements.
Roy Levenue just got the better of Mark Tusel 51-45, followed
by Laki Badhan who beat Rob Withington 72-18. In the final
frame Graham Copson beat Matt Bothwell 57-33.
The Second Club A side, at home to Minnesota Fats A, gained
a 3-2 win. The overall win was gained by the fourth frame,
but Phil Bufton for Min G took the last frame. That gave his
team the second point of the evening when he beat Roger Smith
47-8.
Shifnal F went to visit the Maddocks B side, and came away
with a fine 4-1 victory over the newly promoted Maddocks team.
The first two frames went to Shifnal, Chris Painter beating
Wally Harper 64-22, and Simon Worrall beating Les Hicks 64-32.
Doug Morrey pulled a frame back when he beat Fred Harper 54-26,
but that turned out to be the only point as John Archer lost
to Roy Martin 57-29. In a close last frame Steve Pritchard
went down 68-57 to Chris Petford.
Bayley B lost their match 3-2 when they were away to the
Second Club B side. Mick Francis for the Bayley side had a
33 break in his win over Paul Crooks, that score 70-29. The
match went to a decider with Toby Welsh just getting the better
of Richard Bedall in a very close game, 44-40 to Toby.
Bayley D, at home to Minnesota Fats G also ended up with
a 3-2 win. Craig Whitehead started the match with a 33 break
to defeat Craig Davies 75-29. This match went much the same
way as the previously reported match, a 33 break in each match,
and then another decider which saw Jim Lewis for the Bayley
D side, clinch the match when he beat Nick Atkinson 57-33.
Third Division
No change in the third division with Audco C at home to Shifnal
D and Audco winning the match 4-1. The first four players
for Audco all had a break during their frames. Dave berry
made a 27 beating Terry Askew 69-18. Andy Lycett got a 24
beating Geoff French 69-43, followed by John Williams’
with a 31 against Arthur Aston, that score 82-6. Next up,
Ant Heathcoat also had a 24 to beat Barrie Easthope 82-18.
The last frame went to the Shifnal side with Andy Easthope
beating Roger Lewis in a close game, 59-47 to Andy.
Comrades still hold second spot and they managed a 3-2 victory
over the Little Dawley B side. Some close frames in this match
which went to another decider. This time Chris Crook from
Comrades won the match for his side, beating Simon Evans 46-26.
Hadley A entertained the Bayley Q side this week and although
Ken Booty got the Hadley side off to a winning start when
he beat Chris Fletcher 79-18, it turned out to be the only
win of the evening for the Hadley boys, as they went on to
lose the next four frames. Gareth Hughes lost to Chris Durham
59-14 in the second, with Roy Francis making a rare appearance
losing out to Chris Bates 70-30. Alan Francis then lost his
frame with Richard Tranter, only just! That score 46-38. In
the last frame Steve Weatherall made it 4-1 over Richard Benting
65-44.
Newport B were at home in a local derby with Audco B, but
the “Legion” team are still in the doldrums and
lost this match 4-1. Although Alan Davies got the first frame
for his team when he beat Pete Smith 72-45, it didn’t
inspire the team, and they went on to lose the match 4-1.
