Broseley A had their lead cut to three points this week
after the visit of the Bayley F team to Broseley. Simon Thomas
took the opening frame for Broseley, but new signing for Broseley,
Neil Caswell lost to Mike Healey. Tom Maxfield made it 2-1
to the Bayley team before Mick Brezwyn and John Banks ensured
the team win with victories over Ross Bentley and Paul Maxfield.
Minnesota Fats A were at home to the Dawley A side, and Sean
Nolan was the only winner for the Dawley side beating Simon
Yeats 77-31, although Mark Jones only just lost out to Shawn
Harris 54-50.
Shifnal B were at home to Anstice A, and created a few points
difference between the sides with a 4-1 win over the Anstice
team. Matt Davies had breaks of 58 and 68 which effectively
cleared all the balls from the table in two visits! Neil Price,
in good form at the moment, was the only winner for Anstice
when he beat Aaron Sparkes 53-34.
Little Dawley A played at home to the struggling Bayley A
side, but it was the Bayley lads who came out on top in this
match with a 3-2 win over Little Dawley A. Chris Morgan-Adams
took the first frame against Lee Elcock, then Colin hales
just got the better of Bob Mason, 40-39. Jesse Lowe lost to
Spencer Rowley before Stu Russell levelled the match by beating
Steve Nichols. In the final frame Steve Fletcher proved too
strong for Ade Henry and won the match with a score line of
64-40.
Audco A visited the Bayley E side and in a tough match saw
the old campaigners, Mick Hughes, Graham Darrell and Alan
Turner take the three vital points which may help them to
stay up in this division.
Second Division
After this weeks matches Coddon A still hold an eight point
lead over Second Club A, who are in joint second place with
Coddon C. Coddon A played against Little Dawley G this week
at the Coddon, and this match went to a deciding frame with
Nick Pearce doing the honours for Coddon A side by beating
Rob Withington 49-34 to secure the win for the Coddon side.
The Second Club A side were away to the Bayley B team, and
this match also had to be decided in the last frame when Karl
Owen took the last frame for the Second Club A, beating Dick
Oliver 55-26.
Coddon C have also joined the bid for first division snooker
with a fine 4-1 win when they were away to the Bayley D side.
Jim Lewis opened the match well for the Bayley side when he
got them off to a winning start, just beating Laki Badhan
48-40, but that was the only point the Bayley side could muster
throughout the match.
Shifnal F poised in fourth spot were away to lowly placed
Second Club B, and only managed to take two points from the
Trench side. Second Club B raced into an early 3-0 lead only
to see Roy Martin pull one back 67-36 against Mike Thompson,
and in the final frame Chris Painter took the second point
by defeating Dave Welsh 53-37.
Dawley B were at home to Minnesota Fats A and although taking
the first two frames they saw Minnesota Fats come back to
win the match 3-2. The decider was won by Phil Bufton who
had a comfortable win over Alex Jones in the final frame,
49-12.
Minnesota G were at home to the Maddocks B side and recorded
a fine 4-1 win over the Maddocks team, who have played very
well in this flight so far this season. Only winner for the
Maddocks side was Doug Morrey who beat Nick Turner 57-38.
Third Division
With some results missing again this week, new leaders of
this division are Comrades who are currently playing from
Shifnal. Comrades were away to the Maddocks D side this week
but lost this match 3-2.
Anstice B came back strongly to challenge for promotion with
a five nil victory over the little Dawley B side. Anstice,
who were at home, saw Noel Stones make a 41 break in his win
over Colin Gittus, 61-0.
Shifnal D, at the bottom of the table at present, entertained
the Bayley Q side and managed to gain a 3-2 victory over the
Bayley lads. This match went to a decider and in a high scoring
game saw Richard Tranter lose to Andy Easthope 70-53.
Little Dawley C stopped Hadley’s good run this week
when they beat the Hadley side 4-1 at the Little Dawley club.
Kev Whitehead was the only winner for the Hadley side although
Roy Francis lost on the black to Carl Kesterton.
There are quite a few missing cards now, which obviously affects
