Only a few results in this week, and my report starts with
Shifnal B who continue their winning ways. Shifnal B travelled
to the Dawley social club this week, and won the match 3-2
against the struggling Dawley side.
Bayley A at the bottom of the table met newly promoted Audco
A who are trying their best to stay in this division. Bayley
A made it very hard work for the Audco side at the Bayley
club, with Alan Turner taking a hard fought point from Spencer
Rowley, on the black ball, and in the last frame, Andy Kendrick
played some super snooker against Steve Fletcher with Steve
clearing the table with a lovely 38 break, just to show how
capable a player he his. Unfortunately for Steve Andy had
accumulated enough winning points before Steve's break.
The Bayley F team were at home to Little Dawley A and the
Bayley F side could also do with taking a few more points
to get away from the bottom of the table, but the Bayley F
side lost this match 3-2. Highlight of this match was a wonderful
break of 73 by young Tom Maxfield against Stu Russell.
Maddocks C were away to the Anstice A side this week and
their current good run ended abruptly with a 4-1 loss to the
Anstice side. Only win of the evening for Maddocks C came
courtesy of Darren Wincott who beat Nigel Wallcroft 60-38.
Second Division
Coddon A now hold an eight point lead over the next team
in this division, and their good form continued with a 3-2
win over the Bayley D side. Winners for Bayley D were Dave
Dudley and Jim Lewis.
Second Club A were at home in Trench this week, and they
are in second place, just in front of the fast inproving Coddon
C. Second Club A played Minnesota Fats G and gained a 3-2
victory. Wayne Weeks, playing well of late, had a 31 break
in his win over Ian Ferriday, 62-26.
Coddon C were away to Minnesota Fats A and came back with
four out of the five points, which puts them in third place.
Very tight at the top of this table with only five points
between the second spot to the sixth spot! Anthony Stevenson
was the only winner for Minn. Fats A playing Gary Owen. Jamie
Morris had a nice 33 break when he beat Neil Pearson 63-31.
Shifnal F and Dawley B are fourth and fifth in the second
division this week after meeting at Shifnal to play their
match. Dawley B came out the winning side, 3-2, with Alex
Jones having a 29 break in the deciding frame when he beat
Roy Martin 56-33.
Maddocks B are acquitting themselves well in this division,
and this week they had the Second Club B team visit them.
The Maddocks B side secured a 3-2 win over the Trench side
with Les Hicks, Doug Morrey and John Shepherd winning the
three frames for Maddocks, and Paul Crooks and Mike Thompson
winning for the Trench side.
Third Division
Only one result in from the third division this week, and
that came from the much improved Hadley side who won yet again
this week, when they were away to the Maddocks D side. The
first frame between Fred Spragg and Ken Booty was close, but
Ken took the frame 49-38. Hadley then went two up courtesy
of Kev Whitehead who beat Ken Davies 55-18. In yet another
close frame “Tugboat” Benting beat Roy Lowe 47-43.
Ian Courtney pulled one back beating Al Francis, and their
second point of the evening came when Tony O’Neil beat
Iain Atkinson in the final frame of the night 50-39.
It came to light this week that one of our previous chairmen,
Ken Harper is quite poorly, and on behalf of myself and all
of the league, we send him and all his family our best wishes.
