Both teams fighting for this years first division title
returned the same result this week which leaves Broseley A
still out in front by three points. Broseley A were away to
the Bayley A side and took an early lead winning the first
two frames. Steve Fletcher pulled one back for the Bayley
side before Mick Brezwyn made it 3-1 to Broseley. The last
frame saw Maxwell Hodson defeat John Banks 48-36 to record
a respectable score line for the Bayley side, although losing
3-2.
Meanwhile, Minnesota B were not having it all their own way,
as they visited the Anstice A side. Keith Blackham put Anstice
in the lead when he beat Keith Price, with Shawn Harris levelling
the score beating Andy Elliot. Neil Price made it 2-1 to Anstice
but Ian Duffy and Sean Yates made the score 3-2 to Minnesota,
after winning their respective frames.
Maddocks A entertained the Shifnal B side with Dave France
winning a scrappy game with Aaron Sparkes 65-59. Ian Skelton
was first in against Matt Davies with a 31 break, but after
missing a black off the spot, Matt cleared enough balls to
win the frame. Ian Eldridge, not playing too well this season,
got his act together beating the useful John fallows 78-30.
Les Stirling missed an easy red into the middle pocket and
never recovered against Angus Way, who has returned to the
Shifnal side. Leigh France was too strong for an out of form
Lindsay Knox, final score, 3-2 to Maddocks.
Bayley E seem to be on a downward slide after a good start
to the season. This week they travelled to the struggling
Dawley A side and suffered a 4-1 defeat. Only winner for the
Bayley E side was Ali Jones who got the better of Mark Jones
83-69.
Audco A were at home to Little Dawley A who inflicted a 5-0
defeat when the two sides met at the Dawley club earlier in
the season. The result wasn’t quite so one sided this
time with the Audco taking two points from the Dawley side.
This match went to a decider with Alan Turner losing a 25
point lead to Ade Henry, who played very well to turn the
frame around.
Second Division
Coddon A made the short journey to play the Second Club
A side and this match went to the wire with Nick Pearce, who
is in good form, beating Karl Owen 60-48 to maintain the Coddon
A’s fine run.
Coddon C are flying at the moment, and their 5-0 over the
Dawley B side at home took them to second place, and also
reduced the Coddon A side lead to six points. Who knows, maybe
the Coddon club for the first two places in this division.
Shifnal F with home advantage over Minnesota Fats G would
have liked a better result than they had, especially whilst
being up with the leaders, that is till this week of course.
The Shifnal side lost the first three out of four frames and
Roy Martin just managed to make the final score 3-2 to Minnesota
after nicking the last frame from Tim Barker 50-41.
Maddocks B came back with a bang this week after a 4-1 loss
last week. This time the 4-1 was to the Maddocks side who
met the hapless Bayley B at the Maddocks club. Young Dan Oliver
was the only winner for the Bayley side with a narrow win
over the very experienced Doug Morrey, 51-49.
Minnesota Fats A welcomed the Second Club B side to Oakengates
where the Trench side took an early 2-0 lead. However after
a close game in the third frame where Mick Egan just pipped
Bob Lane 49-42, the Min Fats team came back strongly to win
the last two frames to make it a 3-2 win overall.
Third Division
Audco C, who look like winning the third division title already,
visited the Hadley A side, whose form has dipped in recent
matches. This week was no exception as the Hadley boys had
a 4-1 beating at the hands of the Audco side. The only win
of the evening for Hadley came form Alan Francis who scored
freely against Russ Woodhouse, winning that frame 75-10.
Anstice B are in the ascendancy again, this time with a 3-2
win over the Bayley Q side at the Bayley club. This match
went to the last frame with Steve Smallwood winning the match
by defeating Richard Tranter 56-39.
Nothing separates Audco B and Shifnal D after this week’s
result, when they met at the Audco club. This was yet another
match decided in the last frame, this time it was Andy Easthope
who made the win for Shifnal when he beat Gary Howells 46-34.
That report includes all results sent up to and including
Saturday 9th February.
