Starting at Shifnal this week with the F side playing Maddocks
D having to pull back 75 on the handicap, in frame 1 C Petford
played F Spragg, Chris took an early lead with some good potting,
Fred came back at him, but Chris finished the frame in style
winning 69-30, in frame 2 J Briscoe played N Warrender, this
time the away player started the better, john never really
got into this frame, eventually losing 54-19, in frame 3 Fred
Harper played Cheryl Caswell, a very welcome new recruit to
our league, in the early part of the frame things were tight
and even though Fred played some good safety, Cheryl responded
brilliantly, potting some good reds and colours to take an
early advantage, Fred replied with some of his own, but it
wasn’t enough as Cheryl took the frame with some great
pots and safety, to put her side in a very strong position
going into the last 2 frames, where Roy martin set about reducing
his sides deficit against T O’Neil, which he did to
some good effect, knocking in good little breaks to win 93-23,
leaving Shifnal captain Chris painter having to win by 40
plus points against Roy Lowe, Roy never allowed Chris many
chances and it was Roy who took the final frame and the win
for Maddocks.
The Shifnal b side had to concede 140 points on the handicap
to Min fats G, in frame 1 matt davies wasted no time in disposing
of c davies for the min fats team, knocking in two good breaks
of 44 and 51, in frame 2 john fallows faced Wayne weeks, in
what turned out to be a tighter affair than the 1st, both
players knocking in some excellent reds, but failing to capitalise
on their opportunities, john eventually taking the frame 79-34,
putting the home side up on the hcap overall, in the next
a sparkes took on t marsh, Aaron started the frame off well,
compiling a couple of 20 plus breaks to put some early pressure
on, t marsh responded with some good potting of his own to
narrow the gap to just a few points, but Aaron then pushed
on again to open up another point gap to seal the frame 82-36,
in frame 4 Shifnal captain nigel stallard took on nick turner,
with the home player yet again starting well in the frame
to take an early lead, nick turner responded brilliantly,
potting some great balls to keep himself in contention, things
were nip and tuck going into the remaining colours, and with
nick snookered on the pink things looked good for the home
player, but nick swerved around the black to pot the pink
and then slotted home a great black to win the frame, in the
last L knox had to defend a lead of 60 plus on the handicap
to see his side home.
In the match between the Bayley A and D teams, it was the
A side who narrowly came out on top, having to claw back 65
on the hcap, things didn’t look good for the A side
as Dave Dudley put in a great display against M hodson, winning
79-49, in frame 2 D Rhoades gave the D side even more hope
beating A burrows 66-27, in frame 3 S Rowley reduced the deficit
slightly beating D Williams 68-51 and with the A side going
into the last 2 frames 130 behind, things looked bleak, but
the loon pulled back 52 points with a great display against
an unlucky M beddall 86-34, leaving our newest publisher Steve
fletcher having to win by 70 plus, and he did not let his
side down, playing brilliantly to take the win on the final
pink and put his side through 89-16 against B Aberdeen.
In a tighter affair at little dawley, Maddocks C came out
on top by a solitary point.
