Although a long way to go yet, the tables are beginning
to take shape and current leaders of this division are Minnesota
Fats B, who secured a 4-1 win playing Anstice C, at the Anstice
club. John Jones for the Anstice will be well pleased with
his close win over ex-club mate Keith Price 65-57. Broseley
A, last seasons champions faced a tough match at Shifnal but
managed a 3-2 victory over the Shifnal A side. New signing
J Banks opened his account with a 70-30 score line over John
Fallows and no doubt Broseley will be pleased with this result.
Maddocks A were at home to Shifnal B and recorded a 3-2 win.
Phil Davis who started the season well came up against Mathew
Davies, but was never at the races and "Matty" polished
Phil off 74-24 including a 58 break. Ian Skelton was too good
for Ray Evans, who doesn’t’ seem to play too often
these days, and Ian made a 37 break in his frame. Leigh France,
who had all the run of the ball, beat Aaron Sparkes, and then,
Dave France who was going well played a bad brown and watched
Rob Wright clear up to take the frame on the black ball. Les
Stirling, new this season for Maddocks A, won his frame on
a re-spotted black to win 52-45 against Nigel Stallard.
Bayley F are holding their own in this division, and were
hosts to Little Dawley A this week. The Bayley side won 3-2
with highlight of the match being Richie Hulme making a 49
break in his frame against Lee Elcock, and winning that frame
by 84-9. Dawley A at home to Bayley E, find themselves mid
table although losing this match 3-2. John Squires made a
break of 27 during his victory over Rick Bailey, 60-22.
Bayley A find themselves at the wrong end of the table after
a 4-1 defeat by Anstice D, at the Bayley club. Steve Fletcher
was the only winner for the Bayley side, and he had a 32 break
in his frame with Nigel Wallcroft, that score, 56-28 to Steve.
Second Division
At the top of the second division this week sits recently
relegated Maddocks C, who look determined to get straight
back into to top flight, and this report was kindly sent in
by Jim Hill. Mick Egan started the balls rolling for Minnesota
in the local derby and potted some good shots against Danny
Bedworth who found it hard to find his form, and the home
side took advantage to go ahead. (55-40). Neil Pearson then
took on Steve Hassack but never had a look in as Steve controlled
the game with two mid twenty breaks, and won with a red remaining
(19-60).
Jim Hill then played a mistake ridden game against Mick Pearson
and only just managed to get over the line to keep his 100%
record going (31-61). Another Maddocks man looking to go unbeaten
was Darren Wincott who gave Kirk Stevenson little chance with
some great play to take the match for the Ironmen (15-62).
The final match of the night was between Phil Bufton and Joe
Oliver. Phil was playing well but caught Joe back to his near
best, the Maddocks man put in his top performance of the season
so far to take the fixture for the away team 4-1.
Audco A, defeated 4-1 by Coddon C 4-1 last week bounced straight
back with a 5-0 win over Second Club B. New signing Anthony
Heathcote made his winning debut beating mike Thompson 60-25,
and this win takes Audco into second place. Coddon C take
third spot in spite of losing their match 3-2 when they were
at home to Bayley D. Craig Whitehead kept his unbeaten record
beating Matt Bothwell this week 53-42.
Shifnal F were at home and lost 3-2 to the Bayley B team
while the Second Club A side gained a fine 4-1 victory over
Coddon B. Little Dawley G entertained Minnesota Fats G, and
in an even match won the decider, when Graham Wiley took the
deciding frame 65-12 over newcomer to the Telford league,
Wayne Jones.
Third Division
Good news for the third division this week as we are hoping
to enter a team to fill the bye. Those teams who have already
had a bye will be allowed to re-arrange the match subject
to confirmation of the new side entering.
Anstice B, flying in the third division, gained a 3-2 win
over Little Dawley C to keep them at the top of this flight.
Little Dawley B keep the chase going and made a little ground
by beating the Shifnal D side 4-1. Bayley Q and Maddocks D,
locked together in mid table after this weeks result, when
Bayley Q were at home to the Maddocks D side. The Bayley side
won this encounter 4-1. Comrades A, won their second match
of the season with a 4-1 defeat of Newport B, who made the
long journey to Bridgnorth.
