The report starts in the first division again this week,
due to the sparse amount of cards sent in. Minnesota Fats
B go two points clear after beating the Shifnal A side at
the Minnesota club. Ian Duffy won a close game against John
Fallows 61-54, but that was as close as Shifnal came to getting
a second point, with only Angus Way having a comfortable win
over Paul Smith. Broseley A, although with home advantage,
only managed a 3-2 win over newcomers to this division, Bayley
F. Tom Maxfield and Richie Hulme took the first two opening
frames before Broseley turned the match into victory for themselves
by winning the last thee frames.
Anstice D move one place above Maddocks A, after their match
with Dawley A, at the Anstice club. Andy Elliot had a 34 break
in his win over Pete Nolan but the usually reliable Rick Bailey
is still struggling to find form, and is still waiting for
his first win of the season. Little Dawley A are finally up
and running with a good win against Maddocks A, only winners
for Maddocks were Ian Skelton and Leigh France, who had a
31 break in his frame.
Shifnal B move off the bottom spot after securing a 3-2 victory
over the Bayley A side. Opening for Shifnal was Matt Davies
who compiled a 70 break against Arthur Burrows in the first
frame. Aaron Sparkes took the second frame before Steve Fletcher
stopped the rot with a close win over Dave Peplow 51-44. Bob
Mason levelled the match by beating Rob Wright in another
close game, 47-41, before Nigel Stallard won the final frame,
and the match by beating Martin Hodson 56-32.
Bayley E, playing at home, sent Anstice C to the bottom of
the division, with a 4-1 victory. Darren Wilkie was the only
winner for the Anstice C side, but with two of their hardest
matches out of the way will soon be back to winning ways.
Second Division
Maddocks C continued to make great progress towards a quick
return to Division 1 with a 5-0 win over Shifnal F, who could
only field 4 players, and lose a point as a result of this.
Darren Wincott continued his 100 % start to the second division
with a solid display against John Briscoe winning 66-25. Steve
Hassack also continued his unbeaten run and managed to beat
Gary Love impressively 65-14. Joe Oliver celebrating his birthday
won the match for the Ironmen on the blue 64-38. The final
frame of the night was between Jimmy Hill and Chris Painter
both undefeated this season. After a close frame, Jim Hill
finally wrapped the whitewash up for Maddocks and continued
the impressive start for the Oakengates men.
Audco A hold second spot after gaining a 4-1 win over Minnesota
Fats G side at Minnesota. Craig Davies was the only winner
for the Minnesota side with a hard fought win over Andy Phelan.
Bayley D are now in third place after their home win playing
the 2nd Club A side, and gaining a 3-2 win. These are the
only matches to report as no other cards have been sent in
for Division 2.
Third Division
The clash at the top of this division this week saw Dawley
B at home to top of the table, Anstice B. Dawley B took the
first four frames with Noel Stones for Anstice being the only
player to rescue a point from the match. Noel recorded a 28
break in his win over Alex Jones. Maddocks D move into third
place when they played the new side, Audco B. This match went
to the wire with M. Wainwright for Maddocks, taking the deciding
frame 62-22 whilst playing C. Hughes.
Shifnal D had a 3-2 home win when they played Comrades A.
Newport B moved up one place in the table although losing
at home 3-2 to the Bayley Q side. This again will be a false
reflection to the placings due to the shortage of cards sent
in this week.Nigel.Stallard@telfordsnooker.com
