S Nolan beating M Wainwright 60 pts. In frame 2 P Nolan took
on R Lowe, in another high scoring frame it was Pete who took
the honours, reducing the deficit another 22 pts. In frame

well in the early exchanges, Mark needed to take the last
few colours to win by 8 pts, leaving R Bailey to win by 38
points, he took on T O’Neil, Rick started the game well,
but T O’Neil responded superbly, even though Rick eventually
took the frame 64–40, the Maddocks team went through
by just 13 points.
The match between LDS C v Shifnal D was won by another narrow
margin, in frame one T Askew put the Shifnal side in front
with a 68–41 win over J Richards, in the next S Chauhan
put the away side further ahead with a 52-40 win over K Kesterton,
in the 3rd A Garbett pulled 27 points back with victory over
P Wharton, in frame 4 C Walls put in a brilliant display of
potting and safety to put his side 44 up going into the last,
which turned out to be a nail biter, as C Niblett took on
B Easthope, both players started tentatively, until Barrie
started his potting game, going into the last few colours
things were level, and Chris needed to pot the remaining ball
to win the match by just 3 points.
The match between Coddon B v Comrades was another home win,
with Coddon only having to pull back 95 on the handicap! in
frame 1 M wall beat S Jones 59–49, the 2nd saw A Jones
pull another 18 pts back, beating M Wordsall 51–33,
the next 2 frames saw further wins for the home side N Pearce
beating M Jones 67–22 and D Lloyd beating S Preece 70–25,
putting Coddon 23pts up going into the last, D Holmes saw
his side through with, 47–25 over Chris Cook.
At Shifnal the A and B sides entertained Bayley A and Minnesota
Fats A respectively, things started well for Bayley with S
fletcher putting in a solid display against N price winning
52–43, in the next the ever dependable J fallows took
on S Nicholls, John played some good snooker throughout, winning
86–32, in frame 3 L knox took on M hodson, Lindsay is
in good form at the moment and he reduced the deficit even
further winning 75–36, in frame 4 it was the turn of
the away player S Rowley to put his side back in front, he
potted well throughout the frame, not giving Angus way any
chances to stamp his authority on the game, with Spencer winning
96–25, this left A easthope needing to win by 48 pts
in the last, but he came up against a stubborn C morgan-adams,
Andy took him all the way, with Chris needing to pot the final
black to see his team through.
It was a different story for the B side, with Matt davies
in brilliant form, following on from his breaks of 120 and
130 in the Chris ward last week, he again notched another
century break against an unlucky K Stevenson, knocking in
109, putting his team ahead on the handicap, M pearson took
on R wright in the next winning 58–51, but that was
the only win for the away side, in frame 3 R Evans who beat
M egan 70–45, further wins from Nigel Stallard and A

A shock result occurred Maddocks C, were knocked out of the
cup by bottom side, LDS G. D Wincott, back from his holiday
in Goa, started by clawing back 42 pts from G Wiley to leave
the deficit only 28 but soon things started to go wrong for
the home men. G Copson managed to add a single point against
J Oliver and D Bedworth could only pull back 3 points against
R Withington. T Bell then played a magnificent frame against
Jim Hill and potted three unbelievable doubles including the
final pink off the bottom cushion into the middle bag to win
by 10 pts. This left S Hassack to find 37 pts against R Levenue.
An unlucky split of the balls for Steve allowed Ray to take
control and with only the pink left the Iron man shook his
opponents hand.
Hadley A who are languishing at the foot of the 3rd division,
beat 2nd division Shifnal F, to edge towards a quarter final
appearance for the first time in their history, courtesy of
resounding victories by their two most brilliant snooker players
Kev Whitehead & Iain Atkinson. Gareth Hughes started the
match playing steady snooker however losing 39-63. Kev Whitehead
then stepped up to see off Chris Painter playing some superb
snooker to take the frame 66-29. Roy Francis was next up with
Fred Harper, a very close game ensued (!) with Fred winning
46-43 despite going in off the black at the end. Allen Francis
went on fourth against J Briscoe losing in a comfortable fashion
18-74!!! then with the game poised on a knife edge, with only
a 34 point advantage the incredible Iain Atkinson went on,
challenging one of the 2nd divisions leading players D Chapman,
Iain produced some of the best snooker ever to grace the competition
coming out with a resounding victory by 55-31, completing
what was a sensational win by the Hadley boys 301-243, who
decided to celebrate with another drink! (And an Indian!).
