The slightly depleted division three had some fine breaks
in their matches this week, with Kevin West beating his previous
highest of 55 and replacing it with a 60 break.
Kevin’s team were playing host to Hadley A, and took
four points from the encounter with Kevin’s break coming
in the first game against Richard Benting, producing a 91-30
score line. The only winner for Hadley was another Kevin,
Kevin Whitehead who beat S. Morgan-Adams 59-22.
Comrades signed a new player this week in their match against
Bayley Q. The new player, Andy Brezwyn, got Comrades off to
a good start by winning his debut game 54-35 playing Chris
Durham. Chris Cook took the next frame for Comrades in what
could have been a black ball game, although not marked on
the card. That frame score was 45 to Chris and 35 to Rob Cook.
In the next frame another good break from Mark Wordsell with
a 46 against Chris Bates. With Marks win of 64-28, that put
comrades 3-0 up. Chris Fletcher then pulled one back for the
Bayley side by defeating Steve Preece 54-44.
In the last game, it was a close victory for Steve Weatherall
49-45 against M. Jones, and those two points keep the Bayley
Q side in second spot.
With only three cards out of the four results in, the last
match in this division this week saw Shifnal D at home to
Second Club Trench B.
Tom Firmstone put Second Club one up with a fine 57-10 win
over Terry Askew before Sanjay Chauhan levelled the score
line with an equally impressive win over Mike Thompson 52-14.
Sanjay compiled a 26 break during that game.
Another break of 22 in the next frame for Peter Wharton,
secured the second point for Shifnal with Toby Welsh being
on the receiving end and losing out 59-24. Barrie Easthope
won the match for Shifnal by defeating Paul Crooks 52-35.
Neil Robinson had a fine game against Ivor Peplow to give
the Second Club their second point of the evening, returning
a score of 64-26.
Second Division
LDS G who were doing well so far this season, came up against
a determined Bayley F side, and even with home advantage watched
the Bayley side take all five points.
Graham Wiley, who had won his previous six games in a row,
was Bayleys first victim when Eddie Whitehead produced an
emphatic win of 88-20. Next frame saw young Tom Maxfield beat
N. Morris by 58 points to 27, before Chris Shaw added another
point to the Bayley score line getting the better of R. Levenue
44-24.
The closest game of the evening saw Rob Whithington lose
out to Paul Maxfield 49-37. Graham Copson then came up against
Ritchie Hulme. Ritchie may not be as formidable as he used
to be but still showed good form to run out a winner with
a score line of 73-22. This win moves Bayley F into third
spot and will definitely give them a boost of confidence.
The heavy defeat of LDS G saw Anstice C take full advantage
of that situation when they visited Minnesota Fats G.
Martin Watkins, back in the snooker fold, lost the first
game of the evening when John Jones rattled up an 84-29 victory.
James price for Min G fared much better with Steve Camp, but
just lost in the end by 8 points, 58-46. Wayne Weeks lost
to Andy Elliot 63-31, as did Tony Marsh to Mike Musgrave 52-34.
Craig Davies stopped the white wash in the last frame when
he defeated Nick Oakley 53-37. That result puts Anstice C
eight points clear at the top of the division.
Anstice B did themselves, and their C side a favour, when
they entertained Codden B at the Anstice club. Anstice B’s
haphazard form went out of the window this week as they notched
up a 4-1 win over the Codden side.
Noels Stones got the early point for Anstice B over Steve
Downes 64-36. Codden B recovered quickly virtue of A. Jones
beating John Darrock 58-15. However that was to be the only
point of the evening for Codden B when Darren Shaw overcame
Mark wall 60-46.
Andy Garmson came very close to taking a second point for
Codden B but the experienced George Hammond won that frame
49-44. The last game and fourth point was won by Mick Cahill
who triumphed over Nick Pearce 58-38.
Second Club A maintain their position, and will be pleased
with their 3-2 home win when they played Shifnal F.
Ian Ferriday took the first frame against D. Pye, 45-31,
followed by teammate Roger Smiths win, 55-16 playing J. Briscoe.
D. Miller gave Shifnal their first point of the match when
he returned a score line of 66-39 beating Keith Mears.
Lloyd Giles continued his good form of the season when he
welcomed Fred Harper back into the snooker limelight for the
first time this season, although it wasn’t the start
Fred would have liked as Lloyd beat Fred by 61-35. Chris Painter
gained the second point for Shifnal with a 56-22 victory over
Karl Owen.
In a bottom of the division clash, Bayley D who were at home
to Dawley B, took four points from the match, which may give
the Dawley B side a future struggle. Paul Harper returned
the only win of the night for the Dawley side with a comfortable
win 71-3 against Jim Lewis.
First Division
Top and bottom of this division came together this week when
Broseley visited the Audco club. No surprises here, as the
Broseley side who are playing very well, recorded a 5-0 win
over Audco giving themselves an eight point margin in the
division.
With the champions also playing one of the bottom sides this
week they may have hoped to do better, but the Bayley A side
have got their act together a lot better than Audco at the
moment.
Ian Duffy, always a tough player to beat, couldn’t
have started better notching up a score line of 64-4 playing
Steve Nichols. S. Harris was just as impressive playing Chris
Morgan-Adams and inflicting a 45-12 defeat on Chris. Simon
Yeats swept Arthur Burrows aside 68-3, and everything looked
to be going the Anstice way.
That wasn’t to be as Campaigner Spencer Rowley had
a fine win over Keith Price, albeit a narrow victory, 55-47.
The very capable Steve Fletcher then got a second point for
Bayley with another good win over Richard Wade 55-37.
Shifnal A 3 Little Dawley A 2
Little Dawley got off to a great start when Lee Elcock was
in good form, and after having an early 20 break, never looked
back and ran out an easy winner over Lindsay Knox. Next frame
up saw Simon Biddulph take on Matt Bailey. Matt was in sparkling
form, and several high scoring visits saw him run out an easy
and deserved winner.
With LDS now two up, Darren Pountney must have fancied closing
the match out for the Little Dawley men, but Andy Easthope
was in fine potting form and pulled a frame back for Shifnal.
John Fallows then ran out an easy winner with the help of
a solid 28 break against Jessie Lowe, to square the match
up at 2 each. It was then left to Angus Way and Tim Hicks
to scrap it out for winner’s honours. The frame was
a close, tense encounter early on but late in the frame, with
Tim not at his best, Angus pulled away to wrap up a hard earned
win for the Shifnal men.

Bayley E, on the same points as their Bayley A side, had a
tough match to play this week when they had the Maddocks A
side visit them.
Andy O’Brien for the Bayley side, got them the start
they wanted coming out the victor, in a high scoring game,
60-50 with Ian Eldridge. Steve Hoof carried on the good work
with a similar score beating Daz Wincott 57-50. Phil Davies
hit back for the Maddocks side having a 38 break on his way
to a win over A. Jones 72-58.
Leigh France recently returning to winning ways secured the
second point for Maddocks with a narrow win whilst playing
John Squire 43-30. No messing about in the last frame as Ian
Skelton made short work of his opponent, Dave France, to win
70-9 and win the match for Maddocks A.
Dawley A and Shifnal B remain in the same position this week
after the teams met at Dawley. Shifnal started very well with
A. Sparkes putting Shifnal in front when he beat Chris Woods
85-38.
Pete Nolan came up against Matt Davies who has only lost
once so far this season, and that didn’t change with
Matt Davies scoring 84 and Pete Nolan 41.
Sean Nolan then pulled one back for Dawley with breaks of
23 and 37 during his frame with Chris Petford. Mark Jones
proceeded to win the next frame for Dawley playing Nigel Stallard,
which set up a deciding frame between Rick Bailey and Rob
Wright.
Both of these players have been enjoying good form this season,
and that was reflected in the narrowest of victories when
Rick just got the better of Rob by 47-45, on the black ball,
and giving the match win to Dawley, 3-2
Here is the report for the Maddocks C v Anstice D match.
Maddocks C recorded their second win of the season with a
3-2 win over Anstice D. Jimmy Hill started the balls rolling
with a controlled game of potting and safety…and a little
bit of luck, to beat Paul Devey 67-20. Steve Hassock is starting
to get used to life in the Telford league with a solid 57-22
win over Steve Collins before leaving for his Christmas Caribbean
cruise. The match was sealed when Tommy “the boy”
Hampson fought out a scrappy frame with Darren Wilkie to win
on the blue ball. Any thoughts of a whitewash were swept away
when Graham Hoof was outplayed by Nigel Warcroft 33-62. The
final frame saw an out-of-sorts Joe Oliver lose to Keith Blackham
20-66.
The win may help the Iron men avoid a “Harry Redknapp”….relegation.

My thanks for the reports sent in, and may I wish you all
a very good Christmas.
