No league snooker this week, but thanks to the folks who
took the trouble to send in the following information.
There was no report for the first division but Craig Whitehead
kindly sent me the results from the second division.
In the first semi final Ian Ferriday beat Jim Lewis, and
in the other semi final Craig Whitehead beat Noel Stones.
Over the best of three frames, Craig then won the final against
Ian Ferriday after going 1-0 down, so well done Craig.
In the third division the matches were played at the Codden
club, and the report starts at the quarter-final stage.
John Archer from Maddocks, lost on the pink to Steve Weatherall
from the Bayley, whilst Steve’s teammate, Chris Durham,
lost to Terry Askew from Shifnal by 64-37.
Terry Askew also had a nice little break of 35 in that frame.
Neil Robinson drew Tom Firmstone (both from Second club)
and Tom Firmstone won through that match with a score line
of 48-38.
Colin Gittus from LDS was beaten by N. Simpson in the last
quarter-final.
In the first semi final Steve Weatherall was in contention
until the final pink, which Terry Askew doubled to win the
frame, and take him into the final.
The second semi saw Tom Firmstone beat Nigel Simpson to reach
his place in the final.
Unfortunately, due to the time restriction, both players
decided to play the final over one frame. A shame this had
to happen but the outcome was a win for Terry Askew from Shifnal.
My thanks to Steve Weatherall for this report.
